A new assay was developed to measure the concentration of remimazolam besylate (CNS7056B) and its major carboxylic acid metabolite (CNS7054X) in human plasma. For this new assay method, midazolam-d4 maleate was used as an internal standard. After setting up a previously described assay method, using CNS7056-d4 and CNS7054-d4 as internal standards, analytical results of both methods were compared.

In April-May 2015, we registered the first outbreak of tick-borne encephalitis in Croatia in seven members out of ten exposed persons who consumed raw goat milk or cheese from the same supplier. Infection was confirmed by TBEV enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in all patients.

In this study, we investigated hantaviruses and, for the first time, tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) and Rickettsia spp. in small wild rodents from two different sites (mountainous and lowland region) in Croatia.

In order to detect the aetiological agent of the disease in small rodents and to make the link with the human outbreak, rodents were trapped at four different altitudes. Using nested RT-PCR, Puumala virus (PUUV) RNA was detected in 41/53 (77·4%) bank voles (Myodes glareolus) and Dobrava virus (DOBV) RNA was found in 6/61 (9·8%) yellow-necked mice (Apodemus flavicollis).
