Targeting more than one in nine men before age 70, prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer in men. The increased levels of cyclins, leading to activation of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), play a critical role in the increased proliferation of prostate cancer cells. In this study, the regulation of the cyclin D1 (CCND1) promoter activity by activator protein-1 (AP-1) and SRY-related HMG-box (SOX) transcription factors has been characterized in PC3 prostate cancer cells.

Identifying outcomes that matter most is key in driving specialized paediatric burn care. The aim of this study was to discover the most important outcomes for paediatric burns. Parents of children (0-3 year and 4-11 years old) and adolescents (12-17 yearss old) completed surveys to identify outcomes that matter most in the short-term (<6 months postburn) and long-term (6-24 months postburn).

This work presents air-coupled piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducers (pMUTs) with high sound pressure level (SPL) under low-driving voltages by utilizing sputtered potassium sodium niobate KNaNbO (KNN) films. A prototype single KNN pMUT has been tested to show a resonant frequency at 106.3 kHz under 4 V with outstanding characteristics: (1) a large vibration amplitude of 3.

Objective: To explore a definition for complicated coagulase-negative staphylococci bloodstream infections (CoNS BSI), and to identify predictors for mortality.

Methods: Prospective cohort study conducted from October 2016 to March 2017 in 26 Spanish hospitals. Complicated CoNS BSI criteria included lack of early catheter removal in catheter-related cases, foreign indwelling implant, persistent bacteremia, fever ≥72 hours on active therapy, metastatic infection or deep-seated focus and infective endocarditis.

Benign lipomas are a common medical problem that is not known to regress spontaneously. In addition, vitamin D (VD) is a known regulator of adipocyte proliferation and differentiation. Thus, the purpose of this multi-case study was to determine if optimizing serum 1,25(OH)D3 (VD3) concentrations to the 40-60 ng/mL range would catalyze regression of benign subcutaneous lipomas.
