Article Synopsis
  • Historically, musculoskeletal (MSK) tumors have been treated separately, but the complications from metastases, like pain and fractures, require a team of experts to decide on the best treatments, including surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy.
  • * Recently, minimally invasive interventional therapies, particularly image-guided ablation techniques, have gained traction as promising options to effectively treat MSK tumors, offering less invasive alternatives.
  • * Imaging methods like CT, which is preferred for its accessibility, guide these interventions, which include techniques like radiofrequency ablation and cryoablation, sometimes combined with other treatments for better tumor control.

Article Synopsis
  • - Traditional research on thoracic ultrasound mainly focused on the pleura and lungs, but this study evaluates its effectiveness in diagnosing various thoracic wall issues.
  • - A literature search was conducted to compile relevant studies, revealing that thoracic ultrasound is a rapid, cost-effective, and safe method for resolving numerous clinical uncertainties.
  • - The findings show that thoracic ultrasound excels in detecting rib fractures, diagnosing tumors, and assessing infections, making it a versatile primary diagnostic tool in various healthcare settings.

In recent years, lung US has evolved from a marginal tool to an integral component of diagnostic chest imaging. Contrast-enhanced US (CEUS) can improve routine gray-scale imaging of the lung and chest, particularly in diagnosis of peripheral lung diseases (PLDs). Although an underused tool in many centers, and despite inherent limitations in evaluation of central lung disease caused by high acoustic impedance between air and soft tissues, lung CEUS has emerged as a valuable tool in diagnosis of PLDs.

The differential diagnosis of bone tumors in the talus is broad and includes both benign and malignant conditions. Metastases, although very rare, are one of these conditions. The typical nonspecific clinical and radiological presentations of metastases are a diagnostic challenge, and a high level of suspicion is needed in order to perform an adequate diagnostic approach.

The covid-19 disease (coronavirus disease 2019) is a novel disease causing a world pandemic. Its presentation varies from an asymptomatic infection to a pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome. We present a case presenting initially as a covid-19 pneumonia together with a disseminated intravascular coagulopathy consisting of arterial and venous thrombosis in different locations and a shock requiring admission in the intensive care unit.
