Diabetes is the commonest cause of end-stage kidney disease in many parts of the world, and many people on dialysis programmes live with diabetes. Such people are vulnerable to complications from their diabetes, and their care may be fragmented due to the many specialists involved. This updated guidance from the Joint British Diabetes Societies aims to review and update the 2016 guidance, with particular emphasis on glycaemic monitoring in the light of recent advances in this area.

Pyrolytic carbon arthroplasty for the proximal interphalangeal joint: results after minimum 3 years of follow-up.

A retrospective study was undertaken to review the outcomes of a consecutive series of patients treated using pyrocarbon surface replacement arthroplasty by the same surgeon. We analyzed the results of this procedure in 24 proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joints in 19 hands of 16 patients. The minimum follow-up was 3 years.

Orbital Rosai-Dorfman disease with subperiosteal bone involvement mimicking eosinophilic granuloma.

The presentation of RDD as an anterior subperiosteal orbital mass with bone involvement has, to the authors' knowledge, not been previously reported. We describe a case of Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) presenting as an anterior superolateral subperiosteal orbital mass with erosion of overlying bone mimicking eosinophilic granuloma. It was debulked using endoscopic-guided curettage and the patient was given both local and systemic corticosteroids.

Prostatic adenocarcinoma presenting with metastatic frontal bone involvement and orbital invasion.

We present a rare case of prostatic adenocarcinoma presenting with metastatic frontal bone involvement with subsequent spread to the orbit. Although prostatic adenocarcinoma has a strong tendency to metastasize to bone, particularly axial skeletal bone, frontal bone involvement is rare and subsequent orbital involvement is even more so.
