Feasibility and effectiveness of the prolonged use of eltrombopag in addition to immunosuppression in patients with acquired aplastic anemia: a single-center real-life experience.

Acquired Aplastic Anemia (AAA) is a rare disease involving primary bone marrow failure with consequent pancytopenia. The addition of the synthetic thrombopoietin-receptor agonist eltrombopag (ELT) to standard immunosuppression for the treatment of AAA has led to improvements in hemopoietic outcomes of AAA. Most of the data on the use of ELT for AAA was based on a maximum of 6 months of therapy.

[Dual pathway inhibition in peripheral arterial disease].

Despite its high worldwide prevalence and the intuitable negative prognostic connotation, for a long time peripheral artery disease (PAD) has not been the subject of particular interest by the cardiac scientific community. The availability of a new therapeutic strategy (low-dose rivaroxaban associated with acetylsalicylic acid) has reignited interest in PAD. The clear evidence derived from the COMPASS and VOYAGER PAD trials, with the possibility of using dual pathway inhibition, has given new energy to the therapeutic front against symptomatic PAD also associated with coronary artery disease.

Background: Haemoglobin variation (ΔHb) induced by fluid transfer through the intestitium has been proposed as a useful tool for detecting hydrostatic pulmonary oedema (HPO). However, its use in the emergency department (ED) setting still needs to be determined.

Methods: In this observational retrospective monocentric study, ED patients admitted for acute dyspnoea were enrolled.
