Adrenal vein sampling is a technically difficult procedure with reported sampling success rates as low as 41%. Routine microcatheter use has been suggested by some to improve sampling adequacy. This study is a single-institution retrospective review of adrenal vein sampling procedures performed from 2014 to 2021 to quantify sample selectivity and adequacy with and without the use of a microcatheter.

Familiarity with procedural steps, arterial anatomy, embolic endpoints, technical challenges, and potential complications is imperative for good clinical practice and outcomes. The success of GAE depends on correctly interpreting angiographic findings and variable anatomy, navigating small and acutely angled arteries, recognizing collateral supply, and avoiding non-target embolization.

Systematic and standardized evaluation of superficial venous disease, guided by knowledge of the various clinical presentations, venous anatomy, and pathophysiology of reflux, is essential for appropriate diagnosis and optimal treatment. Duplex ultrasonography is the standard for delineating venous anatomy, detecting anatomic variants, and identifying the origin of venous insufficiency. This article reviews tools and techniques essential for physical examination and ultrasound assessment of patients with superficial venous disease.

Methods: Fifty-six patients (ages 36 to 85, median 62; 32 females) with 77 FDG-avid liver tumors underwent 60 FDG PET/CT guided, percutaneous microwave, or cryoablation procedures. Single breath-hold PET/CT images were used for intraprocedural assessment of the tumor ablation margin: liver tumors remained visible on PET immediately following ablation; microwave ablation zones were visible using contrast-enhanced CT; cryoablation zones (ice balls) were visible using unenhanced CT.
