Alzheimers Dement
December 2024
Background: The study of new blood biomarkers in addition to amyloid beta and hyperphosphorylated tau is fundamental to expanding the understanding of the pathophysiology of dementia, especially Alzheimer`s disease, in search of therapeutic approaches.
Method: In this study, we included individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer disease (AD), Mixed-type dementia (MD), Vascular dementia (VD) and a control group of cognitively healthy individuals. Demographics, clinical characteristics, neuroimages and plasma samples were collected.
Background: Caregivers of people with dementia (PwD) often experience the burden of caregiving and depressive symptoms that may be associated. PwD who experience a higher occurrence of neuropsychiatric symptoms often cause a greater burden on their caregivers due to the difficulty in managing these symptoms. Caregivers may transfer their feelings of frustration and exhaustion with caregiving through the way they communicate with the PwD.

Similarly, the level of neuropsychiatric symptoms in PwD is associated with caregiver burden. Faced with this burden and the challenges of managing dementia, caregivers may potentially channel their feelings of frustration and exhaustion from caregiving into the way they communicate with the person with dementia.
