Background: Debridement is considered the first step in treatment of chronic wounds, however, current enzymatic and autolytic debridement agents are slow or ineffective. Previous studies have shown positive initial results with EscharEx® (EX-02 formulation), a Bromelain-based enzymatic debridement agent in development for chronic wounds. The main objective of this study was to assess its efficacy in debriding venous leg ulcers (VLU), compared to gel vehicle (GV) as a placebo control and to non-surgical standard of care (NSSOC).

Interferon response and epigenetic modulation by mutations drive ovarian tumor immunogenicity.

Cell-intrinsic mechanisms of immunogenicity in ovarian cancer (OC) are not well understood. Damaging mutations in the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex, such as (BRG1), are associated with improved response to immune checkpoint blockade; however, the mechanism by which this occurs is unclear. We found that loss in OC models resulted in increased cancer cell-intrinsic immunogenicity, characterized by up-regulation of long-terminal RNA repeats, increased expression of interferon-stimulated genes, and up-regulation of antigen presentation machinery.

Participatory research approaches in long-term care facilities for older adults: a meta-ethnography.

Purpose: There is growing interest in the potential of participatory research approaches to democratize research, empower participants and contribute to targeted health and social care. Participatory research approaches are emphasized in ethical and funding applications regarding patient and public involvement; however, less is known about their use in long-term care facilities for older adults. This meta-ethnography seeks to provide an increased understanding and novel conceptualization of participatory research approaches in long-term care facilities for older adults.
