Phospholipase C isozymes (PLCs) hydrolyze phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate into inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate and diacylglycerol, important signaling molecules involved in many cellular processes. encodes the PLCγ1 isozyme that is broadly expressed. Hyperactive somatic mutations of are observed in multiple cancers, but only one germline variant has been reported.

Data on the characteristics and long-term outcomes of patients who underwent Fontan surgery and surviving into adulthood are limited. We aimed to describe our center's long-term experience with this unique patient population. Included were adult patients who had undergone Fontan surgery and were followed up at our Adult Congenital Heart Disease clinic between the years 1994 and 2021.

Sustained intraocular drug delivery devices are being developed to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) and improve adherence in patients with glaucoma. The purpose of this study was to assess the IOP and eyedrop usage reduction effects of intracameral bimatoprost implants. We retrospectively reviewed the records of 46 eyes from 38 patients who received an intracameral implant containing 10 μg of bimatoprost as a replacement or addition to their existing eyedrop regimen and investigated IOP, eyedrop usage, and adverse effects.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study compares the costs of two treatments for glaucoma: a second glaucoma drainage device (SGDD) and transscleral cyclophotocoagulation (CPC), finding CPC to be significantly cheaper for patients with inadequately controlled intraocular pressure.
  • - In terms of total direct costs, the SGDD treatment averaged $8,790 compared to $4,090 for CPC, and similar trends were observed in costs during both the study and global periods (90 days).
  • - The monthly costs after the initial treatment period were $215 for SGDD compared to $103 for CPC, with no significant difference in IOP-lowering medication costs between the two groups.
