In many countries worldwide, NO emissions currently decrease as a result of pollution control, while NH emissions stagnate or continue to increase. Little is known about horizontal deposition of NO and NH, the oxidation/neutralization products of these primary pollutants. To close the knowledge gap, we studied atmospheric inputs of NO and NH at two mountain-top sites near the Czech-German-Polish borders during winter.

Impact of intrapartum antibiotic prophylaxis on the oral and fecal bacteriomes of children in the first week of life.

Intrapartum antibiotic prophylaxis (IAP) is commonly used during C-section delivery and in Group B Streptococcus-positive women before vaginal delivery. Here, we primarily aimed to investigate the effect of IAP on the neonatal oral and fecal bacteriomes in the first week of life. In this preliminary study, maternal and neonatal oral swabs and neonatal fecal (meconium and transitional stool) swabs were selected from a pool of samples from healthy mother-neonate pairs participating in the pilot phase of CELSPAC: TNG during their hospital stay.

Enrichment of human nasopharyngeal bacteriome with bacteria from dust after short-term exposure to indoor environment: a pilot study.

Background: Indoor dust particles are an everyday source of human exposure to microorganisms and their inhalation may directly affect the microbiota of the respiratory tract. We aimed to characterize the changes in human nasopharyngeal bacteriome after short-term exposure to indoor (workplace) environments.

Methods: In this pilot study, nasopharyngeal swabs were taken from 22 participants in the morning and after 8 h of their presence at the workplace.

Outcome of elderly patients with classical Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Introduction: The optimal management of elderly patients (pts) with Hodgkin's lymphoma is not yet defined. The aims of the present study were: 1) to evaluate clinical and laboratory characteristics of elderly pts; 2) to indentify risk factors for unfavorable outcome.

Patients And Methods: The outcome of 182 pts ≥ 60 years (y) was retrospectively analyzed (median age, 67y).
