A descriptive survey of patient experiences and access to specialty medicines with alternative funding programs.

Background: Alternative funding programs (AFPs) seek to reduce health plan sponsor costs, for example by excluding specialty drugs from a beneficiary's plan coverage and requiring patients to obtain medications through alternative sources (typically, the manufacturer's patient assistance programs) via an AFP vendor as a third-party.

Objective: To describe patients' experiences and specialty medication access with AFPs.

Methods: A survey method consisting of 26 optional single-choice and multiple-choice questions with branching logic divided across 5 sections (related to patient challenges with AFPs) was administered to patients recruited from an experienced AFP online patient panel and a patient advocacy group.

Myocardial infarction (MI) as a consequence of atherosclerosis-associated acute thrombosis is a leading cause of death and disability globally. Antiplatelet and anticoagulant drugs are standard therapies in preventing and treating MI. However, all clinically used drugs are associated with bleeding complications, which ultimately limits their use in patients with a high risk of bleeding.

Epidemiological profile of cancer at the laboratory of anatomy and pathological cytology of mungbere in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Introduction: Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide, causing about 10 million deaths per year, 70 % of which occur in low- and middle-income countries. In the DRC, the absence of a national cancer registry is a handicap to the definition of a strategy to combat this disease. The purpose of this study is to establish an epidemiological profile of cancer in this laboratory in order to overcome this deficit in this part of the country.

[Evaluation of the results and feasibility of vibration, diuresis and inversion therapy in the treatment of upper urinary tract stones].

Objectives: To evaluate the feasibility, efficiency, and predictive factors of therapeutic success of Vibration, Diuresis and Inversion (VDI) therapy for the removal of upper urinary tract stones.

Methods: It is a retrospective, single-center study at the CHU - La Conception, Marseille, France including all patients treated with VDI from 2013 to 2018. VDI was indicated for stones <6mm in first-line treatment or for residual fragments <6mm after ureteroscopy, PCNL, microPCNL.

New Perspectives on Sex Steroid and Mineralocorticoid Receptor Signaling in Cardiac Ischemic Injury.

The global burden of ischemic heart disease is burgeoning for both men and women. Although advances have been made, the need for new sex-specific therapies targeting key differences in cardiovascular disease outcomes in men and women remains. Mineralocorticoid receptor directed treatments have been successfully used for blood pressure control and heart failure management and represent a potentially valuable therapeutic option for ischemic cardiac events.
