[18F]F-Choline PET/CT and 4D-CT in the evaluation of primary hyperparathyroidism: rivals or allies?

Primary hyperparathyroidism is a hard-to-diagnose condition that can run without symptoms for many years without causing symptoms; yet, it can cause dire long-term consequences, such as osteoporosis and renal impairment. First-line diagnostic methods include ultrasound and parathyroid scintigraphy, which provide unsatisfactory results in terms of detection rate. Second-line imaging methods include [F]F-Choline PET/CT, 4D-CT, and their combination.

Effect of Aging on Deferasirox Therapy in Transfusion-dependent Patients. A Prospective- Retrospective, Cohort-study.

Background: Iron-chelation therapy is life-saving in patients on a chronic transfusion regimen as it reduces organ damage related to iron deposition in the tissues. Deferasirox, an iron-chelator, is characterized by pharmacokinetics variability, and some patients may discontinue the treatment due to toxicities.

Objective: Understanding whether deferasirox plasma levels are related to patients' specific characteristics could help to optimize DFX dosage.

Advancing nursing in Italy through the development and evaluation of an innovative postgraduate programme in Family and Community Nursing - A pilot study.

Introduction: Due to the impact on the public health systems of the ageing and the increasing frailty of the population, the European Union and the World Health Organisation have emphasised how family and community nurses (FCNs) could play an important role in supporting the ageing process through prevention, promotion, and protection in the territory.

Methods: This study describes the first experience in Italy of a one-year postgraduate blended-learning master course divided into 5 modules for FCNs piloted as part of the EuropeaN curriculum for fAmily aNd Community nursE (ENhANCE) 2018-2020 project, funded by the European Commission. The 5 modules focused on: Epidemiology and Prevention (14 ECTS); Fundamentals of care (19 ECTS); Organisational Models and Priority Health Problems (12 ECTS); Communication Models and Continuity of Care (5 ECTS); and Nursing Research (10 ECTS).
