Peripheral oxytocin is inversely correlated with cognitive, but not emotional empathy in schizophrenia.

Endogenous oxytocin has been associated with different aspects of social cognition in healthy subjects and patients with schizophrenia. In this pilot study, we investigated the relationship between plasma oxytocin and oxytocin level changes induced by empathy-eliciting, attachment-related movie scenes with correlates of cognitive and emotional empathy in patients and healthy controls. The Multifaceted Empathy Test (MET) and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) were administered to patients with schizophrenia (N = 35, 12 females) and healthy controls (N = 35, 12 females) to estimate dimensions of cognitive and emotional empathy.

Standards and core components for cardiovascular disease prevention and rehabilitation.

In 2017, the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation published its official document detailing standards and core components for cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation. Building on the success of previous editions of this document (published in 2007 and 2012), the 2017 update aims to further emphasise to commissioners, clinicians, politicians and the public the importance of robust, quality indicators of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) service delivery. Otherwise, its overall aim remains consistent with the previous publications-to provide a precedent on which all effective cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation programmes are based and a framework for use in assessment of variation in service delivery quality.

Endogenous oxytocin response to film scenes of attachment and loss is pronounced in schizophrenia.

Background: Oxytocin (OXT) is critically involved in the regulation of attachment and interpersonal function. In this study, emotional children's movies were used to stimulate OXT secretion in patients with schizophrenia and healthy controls (HCs). Furthermore, associations of OXT levels with measures of attachment style (Psychosis Attachment Measure), childhood adversity (Childhood Trauma Questionnaire) and symptom severity [Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS)] were considered.

Leukocytoclastic vasculitis drug reaction to certolizumab pegol.

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha antagonists are a common treatment modality for autoimmune disorders, but their use can be associated with many side effects, including various dermatologic conditions. Certolizumab pegol, a newer TNF antagonist that lacks the Fc portion of the IgG antibody, has recently been approved to treat psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and Crohn's disease. Though other TNF antagonists have been associated with leukocytoclastic vasculitis, this finding has not yet been reported with certolizumab pegol.
