From Choice to Justice: Disrupting the Binary Political Logics of Assisted Reproduction.

Reproductive rights and reproductive justice paradigms have long been viewed as incompatible, largely because of their divergent orientations to the notion of choice. According to this oppositional framing, reproductive rights approaches have centered the right of (white, middle-class, heterosexual) women to choose not to have children while reproductive justice organizing has focused on gendered, racialized, and classed obstacles to control over whether and how to have and raise children. Amid increasing examination of assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs) vis-à-vis human rights principles, I see an opportunity to narrow the perceived gap between the politics of rights and justice.

Modulation of cue value and the augmentation of heroin seeking in chronically food-restricted male rats under withdrawal.

Food restriction augments drug seeking in abstinent rats. The underlying motivational mechanisms, however, remain unclear. We hypothesized that caloric restriction enhances the incentive value attributed to drug-associated cues and, in turn, augments drug seeking.

Rituximab in autoimmune connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung disease.

Objective: CTD-associated interstitial lung disease (ILD) often fails to respond to conventional immunomodulatory agents. There is now considerable interest in the use of rituximab in systemic autoimmune CTD in patients refractory to standard treatments. The aim of this study was to review the experience of North Bristol NHS Trust managing patients with CTD-associated ILD with rituximab and explore possible associations with treatment response.

The role of biologics in treatment of connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung disease.

With an increased understanding of the molecular pathways of inflammation and autoimmunity, the development of targeted biological agents has revolutionized the management of connective tissue diseases (CTDs). There has been an explosion in the development of these drugs in the last decade, targeting diseases in diverse fields including: allergic disorders, oncology, neuroinflammatory disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, macular degeneration and CTDs. In this last field, commonly applied biologics fall into two categories: cytokine inhibitors and lymphocyte-targeted therapies.

Outcomes of sport-related concussion among college athletes.

The author collected and analyzed data for all student-athletes diagnosed with concussion between 1998 and 2011. Outcome measurements were post-concussion symptom duration, time interval until return-to-play, and clinical outcomes self-reported by athletes and by athlete's parent/guardian 1 year post-injury. A total of 98 concussions occurred in 95 student athletes among a cohort averaging 350 athletes competing yearly.
