Background: Fibrous dysplasia/McCune-Albright syndrome (FD/MAS) is a genetic disorder, marked by bone lesions, often affecting the craniofacial skeleton. Pain is a prevalent yet heterogeneous symptom reported by patients with craniofacial FD. Effective treatments are currently lacking, posing a significant clinical challenge to patient care.

Background: The impact of cleft and craniomaxillofacial (CCMF) surgeons on oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS) resident training is not well known.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to measure the association between resident exposure to OMS faculty with CCMF surgery training, clinical experience, and scholarly activity.

Study Design, Setting, Sample: An anonymous survey of OMS residency directors in the United States, distributed electronically by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, was used to conduct a cross-sectional study.

Histopathology of Idiopathic Condylar Resorption Differs From Temporomandibular Joint-Only Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis.

Background: Idiopathic condylar resorption (ICR) is a rare condition of unknown etiology characterized by progressive decrease in volume and pathologic remodeling of a previously normal mandibular condyle. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) affecting only the temporomandibular joint (TMJ-only JIA) is characterized by synovitis and destruction of TMJ tissues without involvement of other joints. It is often difficult to differentiate the 2 conditions because they exhibit similar phenotypes.
