Several billion metric tons per year of durable carbon dioxide removal (CDR) will be needed by mid-century to prevent catastrophic climate warming, and many new approaches must be rapidly scaled to ensure this target is met. Geologically permanent sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO) in carbonate minerals-carbon mineralization-requires two moles of alkalinity and one mole of a CO-reactive metal such as calcium or magnesium per mole of CO captured. Chemical weathering of geological materials can supply both ingredients, but weathering reactions must be accelerated to achieve targets for durable CDR.

Laccases are ligninolytic enzymes produced by different microorganisms, especially by fungi such as the white-rot fungus . Chemical inductors have been used to promote laccase secretion due to the application of these enzymes in lignocellulosic biomass pretreatment. ANDES-F1080 was previously described as a source of bioactive compounds that could influence the enzymatic production system of other fungi.

Selective lectin binding and sorting was achieved using thermosensitive glycoconjugates derived from recombinant elastin-like polypeptides (ELPs) in simple centrifugation-precipitation assays. A recombinant ELP, (VPGXG), containing periodically spaced methionine residues was used to enable chemoselective postsynthetic modification via thioether alkylation using alkyne functional epoxide derivatives. The resulting sulfonium groups were selectively demethylated to give alkyne functionalized homocysteine residues, which were then reacted with azido-functionalized monosaccharides to obtain ELP glycoconjugates with periodic saccharide functionality.

We assessed the immunogenicity and safety of the combined diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis-inactivated poliovirus/ type b vaccine (DTPa-IPV/Hib) in children in Russian Federation aiming to support the registration of the vaccine in Russia. In this phase 3, non-randomized, open-label study (NCT02858440), healthy children received three primary doses at 3, 4.5, and 6 months of age (N = 235) and a booster dose at 18 months of age (N = 225).
