Clinical Decision Support as a Prevention Tool for Medication Errors in the Operating Room: A Retrospective Cross-Sectional Study.

Background: Medication errors in the operating room have high potential for patient harm. While electronic clinical decision support (CDS) software has been effective in preventing medication errors in many nonoperating room patient care areas, it is not yet widely used in operating rooms. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of self-reported intraoperative medication errors that could be prevented by CDS algorithms.

Geospatial analysis of short-term exposure to air pollution and risk of cardiovascular diseases and mortality-A systematic review.

The cardiovascular risk associated with short-term ambient air pollution exposure is well-documented. However, recent advancements in geospatial techniques have provided new insights into this risk. This systematic review focuses on short-term exposure studies that applied advanced geospatial pollution modelling to estimate cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and accounted for additional unconventional neighbourhood-level confounders to analyse their modifier effect on the risk.

Ultra-low-dose chest CT in adult patients with cystic fibrosis using a third-generation dual-source CT scanner.

Introduction: Chest computed tomography (CT) examinations are performed routinely in some cystic fibrosis (CF) centers in order to evaluate lung disease progression in CF patients. Continuous CT technological advancement in theory could allows a lower radiation exposure of CF patients during chest CT examinations without an image quality reduction, and this could become increasingly important over time in order to reduce the cumulative radiation dose effects given the continuous increase of CF patients predicted median survival.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare objective and subjective image quality and radiation dose between low-dose chest CT examinations performed in adult CF patients using a third-generation DSCT scanner and a 64-slices single-source CT (SSCT) scanner.
