A microwave interferometer has been developed for this purpose.

Recent studies have shown reduction of experimental liver fibrosis with the use of angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin-receptor antagonists. The aim of this study was to determine whether losartan can influence the early phase of fibrogenesis in an animal model of NASH.

Pentoxifylline (PTX) has been postulated to act as an antifibrogenic agent able to inhibit hepatic stellate cell proliferation and collagen synthesis in vitro. Short-term studies suggest beneficial effects of PTX in experimental models of NASH.
