Background: Juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a severe, life-threatening disease. However, the role of rituximab in managing juvenile SLE remains undefined, although early biological intervention may improve disease outcomes.

Aim: To assess the differences in the outcomes of different types of rituximab administration (early and late).

Objective: To evaluate actual myocardial energy requirements using indirect calorimetry, oxygen delivery (DO), oxygen extraction ratio (OER), cardiac output (CO) and their components, as well as to study the impact of positive inotropic agent (dobutamine) on myocardial metabolism in early postoperative period after cardiac surgery.

Material And Methods: We measured the main metabolic parameters using indirect calorimetry in 20 patients after on-pump cardiac surgery with cardioplegia. To evaluate the impact of metabolic load on CO, VO and DO, we administered dobutamine 3 µg/kg/min at the second phase of the study.

Article Synopsis
  • Wrist inflammation in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is linked to a more severe disease progression and increased treatment challenges, particularly in patients requiring biologic therapies.
  • The study analyzed data from 753 JIA patients, revealing that wrist involvement is common in various JIA types and is associated with more systemic inflammation markers and complications, especially in females.
  • Patients with wrist arthritis had a lower likelihood of achieving remission and a higher chance of needing biologics, highlighting the importance of early and intensive treatment strategies.

Background: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis pathogenesis involves a large number of different immune system cells, which are both sources and targets of chemokines, that affect not only their migration but also survival, proliferation, differentiation, production of all cytokine types, degranulation, and also directly stimulating or suppressing angiogenesis. Studyingthe contribution of chemokines to this disease pathogenesis will make it possible to identify new sensitive and specific markers for its diagnosis and subsequent dynamic monitoring of treatment effectiveness. The study aimed to identify a list of the most informative diagnostic markers from a wide range of juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients' blood plasma chemokines.

The present study investigates the photocatalytic properties of hydrothermally synthesized TiO nanowires (NWs) for CO reduction in HO vapor. It has been demonstrated that TiO NWs, thermally treated at 500-700 °C, demonstrate an almost tenfold higher yield of products compared to the known commercial powder TiO P25. It has been found that the best material is a combination of anatase, TiO-B and rutile.
