The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, which came to Russia in March 2020, is accompanied by morbidity level changes and can be tracked using serological monitoring of a representative population sample from Federal Districts (FDs) and individual regions. In a longitudinal cohort study conducted in 26 model regions of Russia, distributed across all FDs, we investigated the distribution and cumulative proportions of individuals with antibodies (Abs) to the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid antigen (Ag), in the period from June to December 2020, using a three-phase monitoring process. In addition, during the formation of the cohort of volunteers, the number of seropositive convalescents, persons who had contact with patients or COVID-19 convalescents, and the prevalence of asymptomatic forms of infection among seropositive volunteers were determined.

The paper gives the results of a study dealing with the detection of the antigens of arboviruses of West Nile, Sindbis, Batai, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, a serocomplex of Californian encephalitis in the field material gathered in the Saratov Region in 2000-2006. The bloodsucking arthropods inhabiting the region were shown to be actively involved in the circulation of arboviruses in natural biotopes. The conclusion that it is expedient to organize an annual monitoring of arbovirus-induced infections in the areas where positive findings have been notified is justified.

The territorial spread of Tahyna, Batai, Sindbis, West Nile fever and Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever viruses throughout the Saratov region in 1998 - 2000 was analyzed. The characteristics of the epizootic activity of the natural foci of these arboviruses in different landscape zones (temperate forest-steppes, steppes and semi-deserts) were calculated. The species composition of small mammals, the natural reservoirs of the causative agents of arbovirus infections, was determined.

The clinical and economic efficacies of antibiotic prophylaxis in the surgical unit of the Hospital were confirmed by the results of the analysis of 1313 case records of the patients operated during a year for acute appendicitis and acute cholecystitis. At the same time it was shown advisable to use antibiotic therapy in the patients with various pathological processes. The dynamics of the microbial dissemination in the surgical unit and some other units of the Hospital, as well as the dynamics of antibiotic resistance of the microflora, its interrelation with the volume of the antibacterials used and their rotation are described.
