The relatively low representation of admixed populations in both discovery and fine-tuning individual-level datasets limits polygenic risk score (PRS) development and equitable clinical translation for admixed populations. Under the assumption that the most informative PRS weight for a homogeneous sample varies linearly in an ancestry continuum space, we introduce a Genetic tance-assisted PRS mbination Pipeline for erse Genetic ncestrie ( ) to interpolate a harmonized PRS for diverse, especially admixed, ancestries, leveraging multiple PRS weights fine-tuned within single-ancestry samples and genetic distance. DiscoDivas treats ancestry as a continuous variable and does not require shifting between different models when calculating PRS for different ancestries.

Fertility preservation services must offer information to patients, prior to their visit, so that they have time to read and digest the information, and also have the opportunity to write down any questions they wish to ask at the oncofertility consultation appointment. Appointments must be offered immediately, based on a specifically designed referral form. Each fertility service providing oncology cryopreservation should have a robust map of the patient's journey to include referral, counseling session, medical consultation, informed consent, treatment plan, and follow-up.

Article Synopsis
  • There are currently no FDA-approved treatments for radiation combined injury (RCI) due to a limited understanding of its mechanisms.
  • Research indicates that endothelial dysfunction contributes to higher mortality and delayed healing in RCI, as evidenced by increased body weight loss and skin wound complications in RCI mice compared to those with only skin wounds or radiation injury alone.
  • The study also suggests that targeting endothelial dysfunction and the TGF-β signaling pathway could offer potential therapeutic strategies to improve healing and outcomes in patients with RCI.

Article Synopsis
  • - Endometriosis, affecting about 10% of individuals assigned female at birth, is difficult to diagnose and often requires surgical or MRI imaging methods, with MRI being quicker but less precise.
  • - A significant diagnostic indicator is the obliteration of the Pouch of Douglas, yet even experienced clinicians find it hard to accurately classify this from MRI images, which makes training reliable AI models a challenge.
  • - The paper introduces the HAICOMM methodology, which combines multi-rater and multi-modal learning with human-AI collaboration, leading to more accurate diagnoses of endometriosis compared to traditional methods and improving classification accuracy.

Background: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), a common problem, can impair function and quality of life in patients, potentially limiting chemotherapy and adversely affecting outcomes.

Methods: This trial compared investigational hand therapy intervention (Investigational) compared with a traditional occupational therapy approach (Traditional) to prevent CIPN in patients with pancreatic cancer receiving gemcitabine and albumin-bound paclitaxel containing regimens.

Results: forty-nine patients were enrolled with 40 evaluable for statistical analysis (21 Investigational/19 Traditional).
