[Specific oncological skin lesions in glass fibre production].

During 1986-1999 a total of 49 patients having occupational skin diseases are followed up in Occupational Diseases Center of Bashkortostan Republic. These diseases tend to increase, especially in glass fibre production. As occupational hyperkeratosis and skin cancer increase in workers engaged into glass fibre production, such industry could be considered as oncologically risky.

[Importance of variation criteria in statistical evaluation of the immune status of work crews].

Variation criteria--variation coefficient, Fisher criterion (F-value) and suggested by the authors index of homeostasis--enable to evaluate completely the state of occupational crews and reveal their compensated disadaptation. Administration of adaptogens (such as oxymethacil) is expedient for correction of premorbid conditions in occupational crews. Increased aboriginality and random selection during occupational activities considerably better adaptational characteristics of the occupational crews.

[Deamination reaction of biogenic amines and other nitrogen compounds during the long-term influence of ethylenediamine in an experiment on rats].

Activity and substrate specificity of monoamine oxidase (MAO) were studied in tissues of rats inhaling low concentrations of ethylene diamine for a long time. While the activity of MAO-A (serotonin as a substrate) was decreased in brain, functions of the enzyme were altered: the enzyme acquired the ability to deaminate glucosamine, which is not a substrate of MAO under normal conditions. Ethylene diamine-dependent modification of MAO was responsible for alterations of the enzyme catalytic properties involved in oxidation of substances with specific biochemical functions.
