Interleukin 8-CXCR2 mediated neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation in biliary atresia associated with NET-Induced stellate cell activation.

Background Aims: Biliary atresia (BA) entails an inflammatory sclerosing lesion of the biliary tree, with prominent fibrosis in infancy. Previous studies revealed neutrophil-activating IL-8 and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) positively correlated with bilirubin and risk of liver transplant. The aims of this study were to determine the mechanism of NET formation (NETosis) in BA and if NETs induce stellate cell activation.

Development of a child and family centred outcome measure for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions: progress to date on the Children's Palliative Care Outcome Scale (C-POS:UK).

Background: Development of a paediatric palliative care child and family centred outcome measure is a priority for health care professionals, researchers and advocates. It is methodologically challenging to develop a measure relevant for such a heterogenous population with complex needs. Involving children in measuring development is vital.

Patient and Public Involvement Work With Parents of Children With Life-Limiting Conditions and Bereaved Parents: A Rapid Systematic Review.

Background: Guidance and principles for involving the public in research or service planning exist but are not specific to the needs of parents of children with life-limiting conditions or bereaved parents.

Aim: Review the evidence on involving parents of children with life-limiting conditions and bereaved parents in research, service planning and advocacy, and use this to develop best practice guidance.

Methods: Rapid review following the Cochrane Rapid Reviews Methods Group Guidance.

End of life care in paediatric settings: UK national survey.

Objectives: To describe end of life care in settings where, in the UK, most children die; to explore commonalities and differences within and between settings; and to test whether there are distinct, alternative models of end of life care.

Methods: An online survey of UK neonatal units (NNUs), paediatric intensive care units (PICUs) and children/young people's cancer principal treatment centres (PTCs) collected data on aspects of service organisation, delivery and practice relevant to end of life outcomes or experiences (referred to as the core elements of end of life care) across three domains: care of the child, care of the parent and bereavement care.

Results: 91 units/centres returned a survey (37% response rate).
