The continuous challenges of land use change have brought potential threats to biodiversity and the spread of zoonotic diseases. In this study, synanthropic rodents and their helminth parasites were used as sentinels to assess the potential impact of land use on zoonosis. Rats were collected in different ecosystems, namely agricultural, agroforest, and residential areas in the northeastern sub-watersheds of Mount Makiling, Laguna, Philippines.

This study aimed to identify the helminth parasites of invasive anuran species in selected barangays in Butuan City, Philippines. In urbanized areas, invasive species dominate anuran diversity, and one of the primary threats they pose to native wildlife is the transmission of diseases and parasites. Out of the 91 collected individuals of invasive anuran species, was the most abundant (88 %), followed by (12 %) and (3 %).

Schistosomiasis is a parasitic disease caused by blood flukes of the genus and involves bovines and snails as a reservoir and intermediate hosts, respectively. This disease is endemic in Lake Mainit, Philippines, as early as 1947. The study was conducted to determine the prevalence of infection in ricefields adjacent to Lake Mainit by collecting snails and bovine fecal samples which are then subjected to laboratory examination and analysis.
