Diagnosis and treatment results of 57 patients with acute diffuse brain injury have been analyzed. Patients were divided into two groups: first study period 2000-2005; second study period 2006-2010. The main differences between the first and the second study periods were in health condition and brain functions monitoring parameters, therapy approaches and goals.

Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) means cognitive deterioration not yet causing disability or dementia. Aged patients with MCI constitute a group of high risk for Alzheimer disease and other types of dementia. Currently, there is no generally adopted approach to MCI management but medications with neuroprotective properties are presumed to be the most perspective.

The main reason for the above condition is a stenotic affection of major arteries of the head. In the treatment of patients presenting with the above pathology, we used mildronate (10% infusion solution, 10 ml, for up to 10 days followed by tablets, 750 mg per day for 20 days).
