The irreversible conversion of methane into higher hydrocarbons in Titan's stratosphere implies a surface or subsurface methane reservoir. Recent measurements from the cameras aboard the Cassini orbiter fail to see a global reservoir, but the methane and smog in Titan's atmosphere impedes the search for hydrocarbons on the surface. Here we report spectra and high-resolution images obtained by the Huygens Probe Descent Imager/Spectral Radiometer instrument in Titan's atmosphere.

There were three objectives to the present study: (1) compare the bladder infection rate and extent of biofilm formation for seven untreated spinal cord injured (SCI) patients and seven given prophylactic co-trimoxazole, (2) identify a level of bacterial adhesion to bladder cells which could be used to help predict symptomatic infection, and (3) determine from in vivo and in vitro studies whether fluoroquinolones were effective at penetrating bacterial biofilms. The results showed that the infection rate had not changed with the introduction of prophylaxis. However, the uropathogenic population had altered subsequent to the introduction of prophylaxis with E.

In many species systemic toxicity of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is manifested by a generalized wasting syndrome accompanied by a variety of specific organ changes including atrophy of the thymus and spleen. TCDD toxicity in most tissues is thought to be mediated by the Ah receptor. Although the spleen is a prime target for TCDD toxicity, the possible presence of Ah receptor in the spleen has not previously been investigated.

A random DNA fragment, probe p2.3 (locus D11S87), was cloned from the 11p13 region between a translocation breakpoint associated with familial aniridia and another translocation breakpoint associated with childhood T-cell leukemia. The D11S87 locus maps between the catalase (CAT) locus and the beta subunit of follicle stimulating hormone (FSHB).
