Comparative effectiveness of disease modifying antirheumatic drugs for patients with cardiac sarcoidosis.

Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the comparative efficacy of disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) for patients with cardiac sarcoidosis.

Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study of new users of methotrexate, mycophenolate, or azathioprine for sarcoidosis using the US-based TriNetX electronic health records database from 2008-2023. Hazard ratios were calculated using inverse probability of treatment weighted Cox proportional hazards regressions to compare the efficacy of DMARDs with respect to delaying major adverse cardiac events among patients with cardiac sarcoidosis and preventing cardiac sarcoidosis from developing among patients with non-cardiac sarcoidosis.

In 2009, levamisole was identified as a source for several aminorex positives reported in postrace equine samples in Canada. Since then, unexplained detections of aminorex continue to be identified in equine samples where there is no evidence to link these detections to a levamisole administration. Previous studies identified a compound named barbarin in some species of plants from the Brassicaceae family and suggested that barbarin may be a possible precursor for aminorex.

Background: The death of a child can have a profound impact on critical care nurses, shaping their professional practice and personal lives in diverse, enduring ways. Whilst end-of-life care is recognised as a core component of critical care nursing practice and a research priority, evidence about nurses' experiences after death in neonatal and paediatric intensive care is poorly understood.

Research Question: What is the experience of the nurse after death of a patient in neonatal and/or paediatric intensive care?

Method: Following registration with Open Science Framework, an integrative review of the empirical literature was undertaken.
