Background: The diagnosis of the culprit allergen depends on exposure, symptoms at exposure, and the presence of specific IgE (sIgE). Pet allergens are sticky and can sensitize individuals without adoption history. Exclusive dog owners frequently exhibit both dog (e5) and cat dander sIgE (e1).

Despite varying genomic rearrangement structures, including duplications and triplications, and a wide range of duplication sizes, no clear correlation exists between DNA rearrangement and clinical features. We had previously demonstrated that up to 38% of MRXSL families are characterized by complex genomic rearrangements (CGRs) of intermediate complexity (2 ≤ copy number variant breakpoints < 5), yet the impact of these genomic structures on regulation of gene expression and phenotypic manifestations have not been investigated.

In Korea, there is limited research on predictive biomarkers for omalizumab response in CSU patients.
Objective: This retrospective, single-institution study aimed to identify clinical parameters predicting omalizumab response in Korean CSU patients.
Purpose: Intravenous (IV) acetaminophen-induced hypotension is a clinically significant issue that remains difficult to predict. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the factors associated with hypotension in patients with repeated IV acetaminophen administration.
Materials And Methods: This observational cohort study included patients who received IV acetaminophen in the critical care unit of the Yongin Severance Hospital in 2020.
Background & Aims: Because the association of hepatic fibrosis and steatosis non-invasive indices with mortality remain controversial, their association with all-cause, cardiovascular-, cancer-, and liver-related mortality was evaluated in the Korean population.
Methods: In this registry-based, cohort study, data were retrieved from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and mortality data from the Korean Cause of Death data registry; 40,491 individuals followed-up for a median of 8.6 years.

Background: Several biologics have been developed and used to treat severe asthma. However, commercialized biologics have limitations in treating T2-low asthma because their main target is the T2 inflammation marker. Therefore, there is an unmet need for treating T2-low severe asthma.

Although it has been identified as an important pathogenic DNA mutation signature in genomic disorders and cancer genomes, its architecture remains unresolved. Here, we studied the genomic architecture of DUP-TRP/INV-DUP by investigating the DNA of 24 patients identified by array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) on whom we found evidence for the existence of 4 out of 4 predicted structural variant (SV) haplotypes.

Early diagnosis and treatment are important for improved prognosis and a lower risk of long-term complications. Selecting high-risk infants is important for the early diagnosis of DDH using ultrasonography; however, there are no standard international guidelines.

Statins and proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin-9 inhibitors not only reduce serum cholesterol, free fatty acids but also diminish renin-angiotensin system activity and exhibit anti-inflammatory effects. These mechanisms may play a role in mitigating lung pathologies associated with obesity.

Eating alone has been linked to various health issues in older adults. This study investigated the relationship between eating alone and handgrip strength (HGS) in older adults using data from 7278 individuals (≥65 years) who participated in the 2014-2019 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

A total of 88 participants aged 7 to 17 years from 7 community childcare centers in Gyeonggi-do were enrolled. The intervention consisted of 12 multidisciplinary education sessions covering topics such as nutrition, exercise, and psychological education.

The genetic diagnosis of unexplained DD/ID helps in the treatment and prognosis of the disability in patients. In this study, we reported our experience of using whole exome sequencing (WES) of children with unexplained DD/ID.

Allergen immunotherapy is regarded as the only disease-modifying treatment option for various allergic conditions, including allergic rhinitis and asthma. Among the routes of administration of allergens, sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) has gained clinical interest recently, and the prescription of SLIT is increasing among patients with allergies. After 30 years of SLIT use, numerous pieces of evidence supporting its efficacy, safety, and mechanism allows SLIT to be considered as an alternative option to subcutaneous immunotherapy.

Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) is a causative treatment for various allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, and bee venom allergy that induces tolerance to offending allergens. The need for uniform practice guidelines in AIT is continuously growing because of the increasing discovery of potential candidates for AIT and evolving interest in new therapeutic approaches. This guideline is an updated version of the Korean Academy of Asthma Allergy and Clinical Immunology recommendations for AIT published in 2010.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 36 girls diagnosed with CPP between 8 and 9 years of age who did not receive treatment, and 206 girls diagnosed with CPP within the same age range who received gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist treatment. Midparental height (MPH), predicted adult height (PAH) obtained using height and bone age (BA) at the time of diagnosis (PAH for BA), and PAH obtained using the Bayley-Pinneau method (PAH by BP) were calculated.
Background: The duplication-triplication/inverted-duplication (DUP-TRP/INV-DUP) structure is a type of complex genomic rearrangement (CGR) hypothesized to result from replicative repair of DNA due to replication fork collapse. It is often mediated by a pair of inverted low-copy repeats (LCR) followed by iterative template switches resulting in at least two breakpoint junctions . Although it has been identified as an important mutation signature of pathogenicity for genomic disorders and cancer genomes, its architecture remains unresolved and is predicted to display at least four structural variation (SV) haplotypes.

The clinical outcomes of patients depend on the clinician's ability to recognize the status underlying the presented symptoms and signs. With the increasing number of high-risk infants, artificial intelligence (AI) should be considered as a tool for personalized neonatal care.

The Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire for Children (DEBQ-C) measures three eating behaviors associated with overeating. This study aims to validate the DEBQ-C for use among Korean children and adolescents with high body weight.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the dynamics of behavioral changes during obesity intervention and identify behavioral phenotypes associated with weight change using a hybrid machine learning approach.
Methods: In total, 88 children and adolescents (ages 8-16 years; 62/88, 71% male) with age- and sex-specific BMI ≥85th percentile participated in the study.
Introduction: We aimed to evaluate the relationships between hepatic steatosis and various indices of obesity, and to identify the most useful index for the prediction of hepatic steatosis in children and adolescents with obesity.
Methods: A total of 226 children and adolescents with a mean body mass index (BMI) z-score of 2.65 and a mean age of 11.
Background & Aims: Associations between hepatic fibrosis and mortality remain to be fully elucidated in large population-based studies. This study aimed to evaluate the associations of the fibrosis-4 index (FIB-4) with all-cause, cardiovascular, cancer, and liver-related mortality in the adult Korean population without viral hepatitis.
Methods: Baseline data were retrieved from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, and mortality data were retrieved from the Korean Cause of Death data registry.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine whether gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist treatment is effective in preserving final height in patients with central precocious puberty (CPP) or early puberty (EP).
Methods: The medical records of 40 patients with CPP and 206 patients with EP who completed GnRH agonist treatment following diagnosis were analyzed retrospectively. Height and height standard deviation (height SDS) scores based on bone age (BA) were measured and calculated at baseline, after treatment completion, and at final follow-up to compare changes within and between groups.
