Background: Psychological problems related to employment are among the most common psychological problems faced by rural college students. Employment stress is an important factor affecting the development of psychological health in employees; thus, reducing employment stress can improve the psychological state of employment.

Objective: This study aimed to understand the potential profiles of employment stress among rural college students to determine the relationship between different profiles and employment psychology.

Teaching spirituality to Canadian medical students: students' perceptions of a spiritual history taking clinical skills session.

Spirituality involves one's sense of purpose, connection with others, and ability to find meaning in life. We implemented a three-year pilot of a spiritual history taking (SHT) clinical skills session. In small groups, medical students discussed and practiced SHT with clinical scenarios and the FICA framework and received preceptor and peer feedback.

Photothermal Lithography for Realizing a Stretchable Multilayer Electronic Circuit Using a Laser.

Photolithography is a well-established fabrication method for realizing multilayer electronic circuits. However, it is challenging to adopt photolithography to fabricate intrinsically stretchable multilayer electronic circuits fully composed of an elastomeric matrix, due to the opacity of thick stretchable nanocomposite conductors. Here, we present photothermal lithography that can pattern elastomeric conductors and via holes using pulsed lasers.

Immunotherapy targeting plasma ASM is protective in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease.

Acid sphingomyelinase (ASM) has been implicated in neurodegenerative disease pathology, including Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the specific role of plasma ASM in promoting these pathologies is poorly understood. Herein, we explore plasma ASM as a circulating factor that accelerates neuropathological features in AD by exposing young APP/PS1 mice to the blood of mice overexpressing ASM, through parabiotic surgery.

Item Response Theory True Score Equating for the Bifactor Model Under the Common-Item Nonequivalent Groups Design.

Applying item response theory (IRT) true score equating to multidimensional IRT models is not straightforward due to the one-to-many relationship between a true score and latent variables. Under the common-item nonequivalent groups design, the purpose of the current study was to introduce two IRT true score equating procedures that adopted different dimension reduction strategies for the bifactor model. The first procedure, which was referred to as the integration procedure, linked the latent variable scales for the bifactor model and integrated out the specific factors from the item response function of the bifactor model.

Safety and Efficacy of Aspiration Thrombectomy or Pharmacomechanical Thrombectomy after Catheter-Directed Thrombolysis for the Treatment of Acute Iliofemoral Deep Vein Thrombosis.

Purpose: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of additional aspiration thrombectomy (AT) or pharmacomechanical thrombectomy (PMT) after catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) for the treatment of acute iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis (AIFDVT).

Materials And Methods: Between May 2017 and December 2018, 40 patients with AIFDVT were enrolled. Twenty underwent AT after CDT (CDTAT), while the remaining 20 underwent PMT using an AngioJet device after CDT (CDTPMT).

Approximating Bifactor IRT True-Score Equating With a Projective Item Response Model.

Item response theory (IRT) true-score equating for the bifactor model is often conducted by first numerically integrating out specific factors from the item response function and then applying the unidimensional IRT true-score equating method to the marginalized bifactor model. However, an alternative procedure for obtaining the marginalized bifactor model is through projecting the nuisance dimensions of the bifactor model onto the dominant dimension. Projection, which can be viewed as an approximation to numerical integration, has an advantage over numerical integration in providing item parameters for the marginalized bifactor model; therefore, projection could be used with existing equating software packages that require item parameters.

A Comparison of the Separate and Concurrent Calibration Methods for the Full-Information Bifactor model.

When calibrating items using multidimensional item response theory (MIRT) models, item response theory (IRT) calibration programs typically set the probability density of latent variables to a multivariate standard normal distribution to handle three types of indeterminacies: (a) the location of the origin, (b) the unit of measurement along each coordinate axis, and (c) the orientation of the coordinate axes. However, by doing so, item parameter estimates obtained from two independent calibration runs on nonequivalent groups are on two different coordinate systems. To handle this issue and place all the item parameter estimates on a common coordinate system, a process called linking is necessary.

Surgical Removal of the Inferior Vena Cava Filter Using Minimal Cavotomy: A Case Report.

The use of retrievable inferior vena cava (IVC) filters has markedly increased in the recent years. However, the failure rate for the retrieval of the IVC filters using the endovascular method is reported to be up to 19%. Open surgical removal of the IVC filters is technically challenging and may require longitudinal cavotomy, clamping, and repair of the IVC.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediation of psychological distress in the relationship between disturbance in ADL from chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy and quality of life in order to provide a basis for planning nursing interventions to improve the quality of life in cancer patients.

Methods: A purposive sample of 130 patients treated with chemotherapy were recruited in the cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires.

The effects of cognitive exercise therapy on chronic stroke patients' upper limb functions, activities of daily living and quality of life.

This study aimed to examine the effects of task-oriented exercise therapy and cognitive exercise therapy on the recovery of hand function and the quality of life in chronic stroke patients. [Subjects and Methods] A total of 16 patients with chronic stroke were selected and divided into two groups. Group I (n = 8) received task-oriented exercise therapy and Group II (n = 8) received cognitive exercise therapy.

Anatomy of the tenth costal cartilage for a columella strut in an Asian rhinoplasty.

The aim of this study was to elucidate the precise radiological and surface anatomy of the 10th costal cartilage for the usage of a columella strut in an Asian rhinoplasty.Three hundred abdominal computed tomography scans were reviewed and measured (166 males, 134 females), and the location of the 10th costochondral junction (CCJ) was measured in reference to the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) and umbilicus. Sixteen 10th costal cartilages were harvested from 10 Korean adult cadavers (7 males, 3 females), and the length, width, and thickness of each cartilage were measured.

The effects of extracorporeal shock wave therapy on stroke patients with plantar fasciitis.

[Purpose] The purpose of this research was to analyze the efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave therapy for the treatment of stroke patients with plantar fasciitis. [Subjects and Methods] This study included 10 stroke patients diagnosed with plantar fasciitis who were administered 3 sessions of extracorporeal shock wave therapy per week. After the last session, they performed stretching exercises for their Achilles tendon and plantar fascia for 30 min/day, 5 times a week for 6 months.

The effects of kinesio taping on architecture, strength and pain of muscles in delayed onset muscle soreness of biceps brachii.

[Purpose] This study aimed to confirm the effects of kinesio taping (KT) on muscle function and pain due to delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) of the biceps brachii. [Subjects and Methods] Thirty-seven subjects with induced DOMS were randomized into either Group I (control, n=19) or Group II (KT, n=18). Outcome measures were recorded before the intervention (application of KT) and at 24, 48, and 72 hours after the intervention.

Effects of spiral taping applied to the neck and ankle on the body balance index.

[Purpose] This study was performed to investigate the changes in the body balance index when spiral taping is applied to the neck and ankle. The findings are expected to serve as evidence of the usefulness of taping the neck instead of the ankle when ankle taping is not feasible in clinical practice. [Subjects and Methods] Twenty healthy male students at A university were enrolled in this study.

The aim of this study was to compare the skin tension of several fascial/subcutaneous tensile reduction sutures. Six upper limbs and 8 lower limbs of 4 fresh cadavers were used. At the deltoid area (10 cm below the palpable acromion) and lateral thigh (midpoint from the palpable greater trochanter to the lateral border of the patella), and within a 3 × 6-cm fusiform area of skin, subcutaneous tissue defects were created.
