Background/aims: The second forward view (SFV) has been considered an effective method to improve the adenoma detection rate (ADR) in the right-side colon. On the other hand, there is insufficient evidence on how much the ADR is improved compared to standard one forward view (OFV) colonoscopy. A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to determine the efficacy of improvement in the ADR by SFV colonoscopy.

Herein, MOF-derived nitrogen-doped carbon/nickel-cobalt sulfides coupled vertically aligned Rhenium disulfide (ReS) on carbon cloth (NC-CoNiS@ReS/CC) are constructed via hydrothermal and activation approaches. Experimental and theoretical analysis demonstrates that the strong interactions between multiple interfaces promote electron redistribution and facilitate water dissociation, thereby optimizing *H adsorption energy for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER).

Acute exposure to ozone (O) causes upper and lower airway inflammation. We and others have previously demonstrated that O oxidizes lipids, particularly cholesterol, into electrophilic oxysterols, such as secosterol B (SecoB), which can adduct proteins, thus altering cellular signaling pathways. To investigate how O-derived oxysterols influence cytokine and chemokine release, nasal epithelial cells (HNECs) from healthy donors (N = 18 donors) were exposed to 0.

Methods: This was a retrospective cohort analysis of adolescents aged 12-19 years old diagnosed with myocarditis/pericarditis within 42 days of BNT162b2 mRNA vaccination. All reported cases were investigated by city or government epidemiologists and the diagnostic certainty and causality was determined by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency's Adverse Event Following Immunization Expert Advisory Committee according to the modified version of Brighton Collaboration Myocarditis/Pericarditis Working group's case definitions.
Background: We aimed to investigate the characteristics of pediatric ulcerative colitis (UC) at diagnosis in Korea.
Methods: This was a multicenter, registry-based, inception cohort study conducted in Korea between 2021 and 2023. Children and adolescents newly diagnosed with UC < 18 years were included.
The evaporation of drops on solid surfaces is a ubiquitous natural phenomenon, and their dynamics play a pivotal role in many biological, environmental, and industrial processes. However, the complexity of the underlying mechanisms has largely confined previous studies to liquid drop evaporation under atmospheric conditions. In this study, the first comprehensive investigation of the evaporation dynamics of conducting polymer-containing drops under controlled vacuum environments is presented.

Extensive efforts are underway to develop semiconductor photocatalysts for water disinfection and environmental remediation, but conventional liquid-solid diphase interfacial photocatalysts face challenges like low diffusion coefficients and limited solubility of dissolved oxygen. This study introduces freestanding copper oxide fluffy pine needle structures (CO-FPNs) with tunable water pollutants-gas-solid (WGS) triple-phase interfaces that enhance oxygen enrichment and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production.

Introduction: Although previous studies have shown that severe medial knee osteoarthritis (OA) (Kellgren-Lawrence grade IV) is a risk factor for patient dissatisfaction following medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO), it is uncommon to perform arthroplasty as a primary surgical option in patients 55 years of age or younger. Thus, the purpose of our study was to evaluate whether severe medial knee OA is a risk factor for dissatisfaction following MOWHTO depending on patient age based on a cutoff of 55 years.
Material And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the data of 270 consecutive patients who underwent MOWHTO with a minimum of 2 years of follow up.

Background: The restriction of active internal rotation (IR) after reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) poses a challenging problem for reconstructive shoulder surgeons, particularly in patients suffering from massive rotator cuff tears (mRCT) with subscapularis (SSC) deficiency. This study aims to evaluate the biomechanical effectiveness of different tendon transfer techniques following medialized glenoid and lateralized humerus RSA in improving internal rotation (IR) strength.
Methods: Eight cadaveric shoulder specimens were evaluated using a custom shoulder testing system designed to simulate loading conditions typical of mRCT with SSC insufficiency.
Bentonite is regarded as an adequate buffer material in deep geological repositories and its swelling properties serve to prevent the penetration of groundwater into the repository and to minimize the release of radionuclides. However, bentonite is rarely effective in removing anionic radionuclides due to its permanent negative surface charge. The aim of this study was to enhance the anion removal ability of bentonite by incorporating layered double hydroxides (LDH) with a high anion exchange capacity.
