A 58-year-old man was diagnosed with accelerated phase chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). He was treated with dasatinib and followed-up; 6 months later, he achieved a complete molecular response. Seventeen months after this therapy, he developed pancytopenia, and was examined.

Background: Mogamulizumab, a defucosylated humanized monoclonal antibody targeting C-C chemokine receptor 4, recently became available for the treatment of adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL). We conducted a multicenter retrospective study of the efficacy of mogamulizumab in ATL treatment in patients on Hokkaido Island, Japan.
Materials And Methods: A total of 125 patients with ATL treated from January 2010 to December 2014 in 20 hospitals affiliated with the Hokkaido Hematology Study Group were enrolled in the present retrospective study.
Central venous catheter-related blood stream infections (CR-BSIs) are a serious complication in patients with hematological malignancies. However, it remains unclear whether there is a difference in the rate of CR-BSI associated with the conventional type of central venous catheters (cCVCs) and peripherally inserted CVCs (PICCs) in such patients. To address this question, we retrospectively investigated the incidence of CR-BSIs associated with PICCs versus cCVCs in patients with hematological malignancies.

We conducted a retrospective survey to assess the treatment outcomes in patients with newly diagnosed advanced-stage FL in 29 institutions in Hokkaido from January 2001 to December 2010. The total number of patients was 443 (men 47.

In this study, we retrospectively assessed the clinical efficacy and adverse events of high-dose CEP for 47 patients with ITP. The response rate (elevation of platelet count>5×10(4)/μl) was 44%, and CEP treatment was judged useful in clinical aspects by their attending doctors in 77% of the cases.

We describe 3 patients in whom a transient monoclonal T-LGL developed after APBSCT for malignant lymphoma. Case 1: A 58-year-old man with peripheral T-cell lymphoma in second complete remission (CR) who underwent APBSCT.

The bone scintigraphy using technetium-99m hydroxymethylene-diphosphonate showed the following interesting findings: absent skeletal uptake; increased gastrointestinal, myocardial, and soft tissue uptake; migration of radionuclide to bilateral pleural effusions. Histopathological examination revealed that the patient suffered from AL-type amyloidosis associated with multiple myeloma.

We conducted this therapy for two refractory patients aged 56 and 63 and one relapsed 58-year-old patient. All three patients were induced complete remission after FLAG-MG therapy without serious complications.

We examined a number of episodes of late onset neutropenia or immunoglobulin decrease in patients with malignant lymphoma who were in complete remission following autologous transplantation with or without rituximab.
Method: Patients with follicular lymphoma and diffuse large B cell lymphoma transplanted with or without rituximab in our institutes were analyzed.
A 54-year-old woman was admitted due to high-grade fever, cervical lymphadenopathy and general malaise in May 2003. On examination, severe anemia was noted, direct Coombs and cold hemagglutinin tests were positive and the haptoglobin level was low in the peripheral blood. However, a bone marrow examination revealed marked erythroid hypoplasia.

We report a successful treatment of a patient with primary adrenal lymphoma using a combined modality therapy (CMT). A 62-year-old man was hospitalized with pain of the flank, and a computed tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen revealed very large, bilateral adrenal masses.

Adenovirus type 11 hemorrhagic cystitis developed and progressed to nephritis and hemophagocytic syndrome. Oral ribavirin was effective not only for the hemorrhagic cystitis and nephritis but also for the hemophagocytic syndrome.

Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) studies and molecular analysis using short tandem repeat (STR) sequences proved the AML to be of donor origin. Although 25 cases of donor cell leukemia (DCL) occurring after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation have previously been reported, there have been no reports of DCL after CBT.

The mechanism for this lineage-specific expansion in ET, remains unclear. We have previously reported that transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-beta1) is involved in negative feedback regulation of megakaryopoiesis in both healthy volunteers (HV) and patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).

We postulate that the drug resistance is induced by the attachment of very late antigen (VLA)-4 on leukemic cells to fibronectin on bone-marrow stromal cells. We found that VLA-4-positive cells acquired resistance to anoikis (loss of anchorage) or drug-induced apoptosis through the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI-3K)/AKT/Bcl-2 signaling pathway, which is activated by the interaction of VLA-4 and fibronectin.
