As the elderly population increases due to an aging society, the number of patients with catheters is increasing, and treatment for urinary infections is needed. The current study analyzed the effectiveness of fosfomycin, the primary antibiotic used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs), in these patients. Patients who received fosfomycin as the primary antibiotic for a UTI were selected, and the results of urine tests and cultures before and after fosfomycin administration were compared and analyzed.

Although manual testing using microscope examination and computer-assisted semen analysis are standard methods of measuring sperm count and motility, these methods are limited by being laboratory based. To investigate the usefulness of a novel semen analysis device using a smartphone camera.

We investigated whether an interaction between inflamed prostate cancer cells stimulated with Trichomonas vaginalis and macrophages stimulates the proliferation of the cancer cells. Conditioned medium was prepared from T.

The production of CXCL1 and CCL2 increased when cells of the mouse PCa cells (TRAMP-C2 cell line) were infected with live T. vaginalis.

Materials And Methods: We searched for original RCT on varicocele published between 1979 and 2017. Jadad scale, van Tulder scale, and Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool were used to analyze RCT quality over time.
Purpose: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is associated with lower urinary tract symptoms and negatively affects the quality of life. We aimed to investigate the treatment pattern of BPH in South Korea.
Methods: Information on treatment modalities and diagnoses of BPH was obtained from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service-Aged Patient Sample.
The urethral catheter is used in various clinical situations such as diagnosing urologic disease, urine drainage in patients after surgery, and for patients who cannot urinate voluntarily. However, catheters can cause numerous adverse effects, such as catheter-associated infection, obstruction, bladder stones, urethral injury, and catheter-related bladder discomfort (CRBD). CRBD symptoms vary among patients from burning sensation and pain in the suprapubic and penile areas to urinary urgency.

Therefore, here, we aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of intravenous iron isomaltoside 1000 (Monofer) in patients undergoing elective urologic surgery and in those with urosepsis.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of poloxamer-based thermo-sensitive sol-gel instillation, after transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), for preventing urethral stricture.
Patients And Methods: In all, 198 patients underwent TURP for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Recruited patients were randomly divided into two groups: groups A and B.
Purpose: To evaluate the relationships between lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and lifestyle factors (physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption, body mass index, and stress) in Korean men.
Methods: We analyzed the survey results of South Korean men (n=64,439) who were 40 years of age or older among whom interviews were conducted using questionnaires. Trained interviewers performed face-to-face surveys using computer-assisted personal interviewing, the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), and standard questions.
The aim of this study was to assess the quality of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on erectile dysfunction (ED) conducted from 2007 to 2018. We searched for RCT original articles on ED published between 2007 and 2018 using PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases. RCT quality assessment was performed using Jadad scale, van Tulder scale, and Cochrane Collaboration's Risk of Bias Tool.

Inguinal hernia is one of the most common complications of radical prostatectomy that require surgical repair. At present, such surgical repair inevitably leaves additional scars on the abdominal wall.

Patients And Methods: Eligible patients were randomly allocated to receive intravesical instillation with HA/CS or normal saline just after ureteric stent placement. Just before stent removal on postoperative day 7, the patients completed the Ureteric Stent Symptom Questionnaire (USSQ), International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) QoL question, and a pain visual analogue scale (VAS).
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (LESS) in the repair of intraperitoneal bladder rupture.
Patients And Methods: All consecutive patients who underwent LESS for intraperitoneal bladder rupture in three hospitals in Korea were included prospectively in this study. LESS was performed using a homemade single-port device composed of an Alexis wound retractor and a surgical glove.
Introduction And Hypothesis: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) provide the best quality clinical evidence. The aim of this study was to assess the quality of RCTs published by the International Urogynecology Journal (IUJ) in 2007-2016.
Methods: RCTs in original articles were extracted from PubMed and IUJ homepage.
Aim: To evaluate the association between lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and incidental falls and fear of falling.
Methods: We used data obtained from the 2011 Korean Community Health Survey (KCHS) conducted between August and October 2011 in South Korea. The survey was carried out to estimate patterns of disease prevalence and morbidity in men >40 years old.
Purpose: This study estimated the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in Korean men and the conditions for being diagnosed with or treated for LUTS/benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Methods: We analyzed cross-sectional data collected from 69,851 Korean men who were 40 years of age or older and had participated in the Korean Community Health Survey performed in 2011. Interviewers performed face-to-face surveys that included sociodemographic questions, the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), and questions regarding whether the subjects had been diagnosed with or treated for LUTS/BPH.
Purpose: We investigated improvements in overactive bladder symptoms and depressive symptoms after solifenacin treatment in overactive bladder patients with or without depressive symptoms.
Methods: We performed a prospective study of patients who had been diagnosed with overactive bladder from July 2013 to June 2014. Based on the Beck Depression Inventory questionnaire, the test subjects were divided into group 1, without depressive symptoms (0-9 points), and group 2, with depressive symptoms (10 or more points).
Purpose: Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) comprise a set of common, bothersome symptoms in middle-aged and elderly men. Recent research suggests that depressive symptoms may influence the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). We performed a community-based cross-sectional study to evaluate the correlation between LUTS and depression.
