Interstitial quasi-atomic electrons (IQEs) in the quantized energy levels of positively charged cavities possess a substantial own magnetic moment and control the magnetism of crystalline electrides depending on the interaction with surrounding cations. However, weak spin-orbit coupling and gentle exchange interaction restricted by the IQEs preclude a large magnetic anisotropic, remaining a challenge for a hard magnetism. It is reported that 2D [ReC]·2e electrides (Re = Er, Ho, Dy, and Tb) show the permanent magnetism in a ferrimagnetic ground state, mimicking the ferrites composed of magnetic sublattices with different spin polarizations.

We investigated the association between BMI and the risk of COPD among young individuals. Using the Korean National Health Information Database, we screened individuals aged 20-39 years who participated in the national health examination between 2009 and 2012.

Although DMGH3s mainly occur in pediatric patients, they have also occurred in adult patients. This study aimed to analyze the clinicopathological significance of targetable genetic alterations in non-pediatric DMGH3.

Our model successfully classified the flavonoid isomers with various substitution patterns (3-O, 6-C, 7-O, 8-C, 4'-O) and multiple glycosides, achieving over 80% accuracy during training. In addition, the experimental spectra from flavonoid glycoside standards were acquired with different adducts, and our model showed robust performance regardless of the experimental conditions.

The rice small protein OsS1Fa1, a homolog of spinach S1Fa, plays a significant role in drought tolerance, attributed to its transmembrane domain. In this study, we aim to further elucidate the potential roles of OsS1Fa1 in cold and biotic stresses as an inner nuclear membrane protein. Fluorescence analysis confirmed the localization of OsS1Fa1 to the inner nuclear membrane.

As conventional electromagnetic motors are not applicable for utilization within MRI scanners, we have developed a prototype robotic system driven by pneumatic stepper motors to control the movement of the HIFU transducer within an intrarectal probe during MRI-guided HIFU treatment procedures. These pneumatic stepper motors were constructed entirely from MRI-compatible plastic materials.

Raw PMR was prepared into processed PMR via processing procedure; however, there is a lack of standardized protocols ensuring the completeness of processing.
Objective: This aims to develop a strategy based on a metabolomics approach for the comprehensive chemical profiling and comparison of raw and processed PMR and establish a basis for PMR processing standardization.
To investigate the association between obesity and blood lead level (BLL) in the general population after controlled for menopause, blood pressure, calcium, and smoking; we assessed the relationship between BMI, WC (Waist Circumference), and blood lead levels in the non-smoking middle-aged subjects without hypertension among 2018 KNHANES. All data were recategorized into S1 (BMI<25 kg/m & WC<90 cm), S2 (intermediate), and S3 (BMI>25 kg/m & WC>90 cm). We made the log transformation of blood lead levels to bring them closer to a normal distribution.

This study evaluated the prognostic significance of the perichemotherapy skeletal muscle index (SMI) and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9) in patients with BRPC or LAPC treated with FOLFIRINOX.
Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 227 patients with BR or LAPC who received at least four cycles of chemotherapy between 2015 and 2020.
In this study, we demonstrate the emergence of NO gas sensing capabilities in the typically non-active NiWO, a strongly correlated electron system (SCES), by introducing substitutional Fe at the Ni site. NiWO typically exhibits strong Coulombic repulsion between Ni atoms, resulting in a large band gap of over 3.0 eV and insulating behavior.

In this report, we develop room-temperature operational NH gas-sensing materials, which are activated through electron doping and crystal structure distortion effect in FeNiWO. The base material, synthesized through solid-state synthesis, involves Fe cations substitutionally located at the Ni sites of the NiWO crystal structure and shows no gas-sensing response at room temperature.

Paper crafts, such as origami and kirigami, have become an interdisciplinary research theme transportable from art to science, and further to engineering. Kirigami-inspired architectural design strategies allow the establishment of three-dimensional (3D) mechanical linkages with unprecedented mechanical properties. Herein, we report a crystalline zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF), displaying folding mechanics based on a kirigami tessellation, originated from the double-corrugation surface (DCS) pattern.

Backgruound: Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) has a poorer prognosis than differentiated thyroid cancers; however, comprehensive data on the long-term outcomes of MTC remain scarce. This study investigated the extended clinical outcomes of MTC and aimed to identify prognostic factors.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with MTC between 1980 and 2020 were retrospectively reviewed.
Micrometer-sized single crystal cathodes have garnered significant interest as promising cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries due to their ability to reduce surface area exposure to electrolytes and suppress side reactions, thereby enhancing electrochemical performance. One of the challenging issues with single crystal cathode materials is synthesizing monodisperse and discrete single crystals rather than agglomerated quasi-single crystals. However, conventional solid-state synthesis of most single crystals results in severe agglomeration and cation mixing, as it requires high temperatures to promote particle growth to several micrometers.

Electron-transporting transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) are a commercial reality, however, hole-transporting counterparts are far more challenging because of limited material design. Here, we propose a strategy for enhancing the hole conductivity without deteriorating the band gap () and workfunction () by Cu incorporation in a strongly correlated NiWO insulator. The optimal Cu-doped NiWO (CuNiWO) exhibits a resistivity reduction of ∼10 times NiWO as well as band-like charge transport with the hole mobility approaching 7 cm V s at 200 K, a deep of 5.
