Optimal antithrombotic strategy in patients with atrial fibrillation beyond 1 year after drug-eluting stent implantation: Design and rationale of the randomized ADAPT AF-DES trial.

Background: Both anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapies are recommended after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Although contemporary guidelines recommend discontinuation of antiplatelet therapy 1 year after drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation due to excessive bleeding risk, supporting randomized trials are still lacking.

Methods: The ADAPT AF-DES trial is a multicenter, prospective, open-label, randomized, non-inferiority trial, enrolling 960 patients with AF with a CHADS-VASc score > 1, who underwent PCI with DES implantation at least 12 months before enrollment.

Purpose: This study aimed to clinically evaluate the efficacy of vestibuloplasty around lower molar implants using 3 different modalities: apically positioned flap alone (APF), APF with a free gingival graft (FGG), and APF with modified periosteal fenestration (mPF).

Methods: Three different vestibuloplasty procedures during second-stage implant surgery were performed at the mandibular molar area in 61 patients with a shallow vestibule and insufficient keratinized tissue (KT). The clinical measurements of KT width were recorded at baseline, immediately after surgery (T0), 6 months after surgery (T6), and 12 months after surgery (T12).

Calcium (Ca) is an important element for many physiological functions of the uterus, including embryo implantation. Here, we investigated the possible involvement of altered intracellular Ca levels in decidualization in human endometrial stromal cells (hEMSCs). hEMSCs showed high levels of mesenchymal stem cell marker expression (CD73, CD90, and CD105) and did not express markers of hematopoietic progenitor cells (CD31, CD34, CD45, and HLA-DR).

The evaluation of analytical similarity has been a challenging issue for the biosimilar industry because the number of lots for reference and biosimilar products available at the time of development are limited, whilst measurable quality attributes of target molecule are numerous, which can lead to potential bias or false negative/positive conclusions regarding biosimilarity. Therefore, appropriate statistical analyses are highly desirable to achieve a high level of confidence in the similarity evaluation. A recent guideline for the risk-based statistical approaches recommended by the US Food and Drug Administration provides useful tools to systematically evaluate analytical similarity of biosimilar products compared with reference products.

In this research, graphite oxide (GO) sheets exfoliated from graphite were impregnated with Pd(OAc)2 to prepare Pd(2+)/GO. Thermal treatments of the Pd(2+)/GO in H2 flow at 100°C produced Pd/graphene (Pd/G) nanocomposites.

Application of anoxia with glucose addition for the enhanced production of hCTLA4Ig in transgenic rice suspension cell cultures.

To enhance the production of hCTLA4Ig in transgenic rice suspension cell cultures, anoxic conditions were applied during the production phase. Under the anoxic conditions in sugar-depleted media, cell viability was reduced rapidly and protease activity increased compared to aerobic conditions. However, the maximum production level of hCTLA4Ig with sugar-depleted anoxic conditions was the same as that in aerobic conditions.

Adsorptive loss of human cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen 4-immunoglobulin (hCTLA4Ig) in transgenic rice cell suspension cultures was investigated using glass flasks, plastic flasks, disposable vessels, and stainless steel vessels. When hCTLA4Ig was added to the glass flasks containing sterile AA medium, a rapid decrease in the concentration of hCTLA4Ig, independent on pH, was observed resulting in more than 90% of the protein loss within 1 h due to the surface adsorption. When the same experiments were performed on four different types of culture equipments mentioned above, the lowest adsorption level was observed in the plastic flasks and the highest level was observed in the glass flasks.
