High-throughput screening instrument was developed for photocatalytic water purification, enabling the simultaneous testing of 132 photocatalytic reactions under uniform visible light irradiation, temperature control, and stirring. The instrument was used to investigate the effects of different catalysts (TiO, ZnO, α-FeO) and environmental waters (seawater, urban wastewater, and industrial wastewater) on dye degradation. It was observed environmental ions, particularly carbonate and phosphate ions, significantly reduced catalyst activity by inhibiting the adsorption of dye molecules.
