Objective: The endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA), has become the preferred alternative to traditional open and transoral approaches to the ventral craniovertebral junction (CVJ) region. However, preoperative prediction of the limitations of caudal reach remains challenging. This cadaveric study aimed to quantify the CVJ area of exposure and access afforded by the EEA, evaluate the accuracy of previously described radiographic anthropometric lines, and identify the lowest limit of the EEA corridor.

Several treatment modalities have been described to treat SOM, including medication and surgical interventions. There is a paucity of reports describing microvascular decompression (MVD) of the trochlear nerve near the root entry zone for the treatment of a neurovascular conflict.

Introduction: Craniopharyngiomas (CPs) are benign and rare tumors found in adults. Their location close to vital neurovascular structures makes traditional treatment modalities (surgery and radiation) challenging and potentially fraught with morbidity. The 2021 WHO classification has divided what was previously considered two subtypes of craniopharyngioma into separate entities.

This paper reviews the current therapeutic strategies for melanoma brain metastases, with a focus on delayed and concurrent stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). While surgery and traditional chemotherapy offer limited efficacy, recent advances in immunotherapy, particularly immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), have played a major role in the advancement and improved efficacy of the treatment of cancers, including brain metastases.

Objective: The endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) has evolved into an established technique in skull base surgery. The authors previously examined 1002 EEA procedures and reported factors associated with postoperative complications. Here they report the development and validation of a scoring model based on risk factors to better predict complications following EEA.

However, meningioma en plaque (MEP) is a rare subset accounting for 2.5% of all meningiomas and is characterized by flat, carpetlike proliferation along the dura, typically arising in the spheno-orbital region, and, therefore, causes proptosis, decreased visual acuity, and orbital pain.

However, it can be inadequate to cover wide defects or compromised by tumor invasion or prior surgery requiring additional reconstructive options.

While some RCCs may not cause symptoms, others can insidiously cause pituitary dysfunction, which is often irreversible, even following surgery. Hence, it is crucial to identify asymptomatic RCCs that grow rapidly and pose a higher risk of causing endocrinologic dysfunction.

Generic quality-of-life measures suffer from decreased face validity and content validity, leading to the development of disease-specific quality-of-life measures such as the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Quality of Life (HiSQOL) outcome measure. The aim of this study was to validate the use of the HiSQOL in the Australian population and evaluate the quality-of-life impact in HS patients in Australia.

Primary tissues of origin can include smooth muscle cells of the abdominopelvic viscera, blood vessels, or arrector pili muscles. LMS is known to metastasize to the lungs, with few reported cases of spread to the central nervous system.

Traditional open microsurgical approaches may be limited in their access to certain tumors, prompting the exploration of alternative techniques. The endoscopic supraorbital translaminar approach (ESOTLA) has emerged as a promising alternative for managing these tumors.

Initial exposure to alpha-gal most often occurs through a tick bite, most commonly the lone star tick in the United States. Repeated exposure to alpha-gal may elicit severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis.

The sublabial contralateral transmaxillary (CTM) approach and superior eyelid lateral transorbital approach, frequently used nowadays, have been referred to as the "third port" when used alongside the endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA). The endoscopic precaruncular contralateral medial transorbital (cMTO) corridor, on the other hand, is an underrecognized but unique port that has been used to repair CSF rhinorrhea originating from the lateral sphenoid sinus recess.

Methods: Twenty-two patients undergoing MRI examination of the optic nerve with the dedicated protocol were identified and included for analysis of imaging, surgical strategy, and outcomes. T2-weighted and fat-suppressed T1-weighted gadolinium-enhanced images were acquired perpendicular and parallel to the long axis of the optic nerve to achieve en face and in-line views along the course of the nerve.

Background: Hemangiopericytoma (HPC) is a rare malignancy accounting for 0.4% of intracranial tumors. HPCs are characterized by local aggressiveness, high rates of recurrence, and a tendency to metastasize to extracranial sites.

Extended endoscopic endonasal approaches can effectively overcome many of limitations, yet they require a favorable working angle between the optic chiasm and pituitary gland, as well as the involvement of the third ventricle floor by the tumor.
Methods: Herein, the authors describe the surgical nuances of a keyhole technique for resecting third ventricle craniopharyngiomas via a fully endoscopic minimally invasive trans-eyebrow supraorbital translaminar approach (ESOTLA).
Complete sequestration of central nervous system tissue and cerebrospinal fluid by the dural membrane is fundamental to maintaining homeostasis and proper organ function, making reconstruction of this layer an essential step during neurosurgery. Primary closure of the dura by suture repair is the current standard, despite facing technical, microenvironmental, and anatomic challenges. Here, we apply a mechanically tough hydrogel paired with a bioadhesive for intraoperative sealing of the dural membrane in rodent, porcine, and human central nervous system tissue.

Although decompression of the optic nerve has traditionally been achieved transcranially, the endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) is gaining traction as a minimally invasive approach recently.

Generating strong rapid adhesion between hydrogels has the potential to advance the capabilities of modern medicine and surgery. Current hydrogel adhesion technologies rely primarily on liquid-based diffusion mechanisms and the formation of covalent bonds, requiring prolonged time to generate adhesion. Here, we present a simple and versatile strategy using dry chitosan polymer films to generate instant adhesion between hydrogel-hydrogel and hydrogel-elastomer surfaces.
