In this study, a CRISPR-Cas12a-mediated dual-mode upconversion luminescence/colorimetric nucleic acid biosensing platform is developed based on UCNP@SiO/CeO (UNSC) nanozyme. Here, UNSC is conjugated with single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) probes used as both peroxidase-like nanozyme and upconversion luminescence donors. When no target nucleic acid is present, ssDNA-conjugated UNSC attaches on magnetic graphene oxide (MGO) via pi-pi stacking force, resulting in upconversion luminescence quenching (OFF) and no color change after magnetic removal of nanozymes attached on the MGO.

Twice-Yearly Lenacapavir for HIV Prevention in Men and Gender-Diverse Persons.

Background: Twice-yearly subcutaneous lenacapavir has been shown to be efficacious for prevention of HIV infection in cisgender women. The efficacy of lenacapavir for preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in cisgender men, transgender women, transgender men, and gender-nonbinary persons is unclear.

Methods: In this phase 3, double-blind, randomized, active-controlled trial, we randomly assigned participants in a 2:1 ratio to receive subcutaneous lenacapavir every 26 weeks or daily oral emtricitabine-tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (F/TDF).

Mg/Si- and Ag-Doped Carbon-Based Media Rainwater Filtration System for Multiple Pollutants Removal.

In this study, the removal performances of a multi-pollutant elimination cartridge system (MPECS) composed of palm shell waste-based activated carbon (PSAC), magnesium (Mg)/silicon (Si)-doped PSAC (Mg/Si-PSAC), and silver (Ag)-doped PSAC (Ag-PSAC) for heavy metals, organic pollutants, and were investigated. Mg/Si impregnation significantly improved heavy metal removal using PSAC by increasing the surface area and adding more sorption sites to the magnesium silicate nanolayer. Impact of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) on Serum Concentrations of Cefepime.

ECMO is becoming widely used as a life-saving measure for critically ill patients. However, there is limited data on pharmacokinetics and the dosing of beta-lactam antibiotics in ECMO. In this study, we evaluated the serum concentrations of cefepime in patients on ECMO to determine the impact of ECMO circuitry and to guide therapeutic dosing.

Monitoring and Treatment of Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria in Patients with Aplastic Anemia in Asia: An Expert Consensus.

Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) clones can be identified in a significant proportion of patients with aplastic anemia (AA). Screening for PNH clones at the time of an AA diagnosis is recommended by national and international guidelines.
