[NiFe]-hydrogenases catalyze the reversible activation of H using a unique NiFe(CN)CO metal site, which is assembled by a sophisticated multiprotein machinery. The [4Fe-4S] cluster-containing HypCD complex, which possesses an ATPase activity with a hitherto unknown function, serves as the hub for the assembly of the Fe(CN)CO subfragment. HypCD is also thought to be responsible for the subsequent transfer of the iron fragment to the apo-form of the catalytic hydrogenase subunit, but the underlying mechanism has remained unexplored.

In this work, MoS flakes were printed on ceramic substrates and investigated toward 1-10 ppm of nitrogen dioxide (NO), 2-12 ppm of ammonia (NH), and 2-12 ppm acetone (CHO) under UV light (275 nm). The structure of overlapping MoS flakes and UV light assistance affected high responsivity to NO when DC resistance was monitored, and superior sensitivity to NH was obtained from the low-frequency noise spectra. MoS exhibited response and recovery times in hundreds of seconds and stability throughout the experiments conducted within a few months.

A compact ion source combining electron impact and thermal ionization has been developed and commissioned in two Multiple-Reflection Time-Of-Flight Mass Spectrometer (MR-TOF-MS) setups at the Fragment Separator Ion Catcher at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, Darmstadt, Germany, and at TRIUMF's Ion Trap for Atomic and Nuclear science at TRIUMF Canada's particle accelerator center, Vancouver, Canada. The ion source is notable for its compact dimensions of 50 mm in height and 68 mm in diameter. The ion source is currently in daily operation at both facilities.

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory and neurodegenerative disease of the central nervous system characterized by a broad and unpredictable range of symptoms, including cognitive and sociocognitive dysfunction. Among these social-cognitive functions, moral judgment has been explored in persons with MS (PwMS) using moral dilemmas, where participants must decide whether to sacrifice one person to save a greater number. Opting for such a sacrifice reflects utilitarian reasoning (sacrificing one for the benefit of many is deemed acceptable), while refusing reflects deontological reasoning (such sacrifice is considered morally wrong).

Dual networks formed by entangled polymer chains and wormlike surfactant micelles have attracted increasing interest in their application as thickeners in various fields since they combine the advantages of both polymer- and surfactant-based fluids. In particular, such polymer-surfactant mixtures are of great interest as novel hydraulic fracturing fluids with enhanced properties. In this study, we demonstrated the effect of the chemical composition of an uncharged polymer poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and pH on the rheological properties and structure of its mixtures with a cationic surfactant erucyl bis(hydroxyethyl)methylammonium chloride already exploited in fracturing operations.

Stimulator of interferon genes (STING) is a promising target for potentiating antitumor immunity, but multiple pharmacological barriers limit the clinical utility, efficacy, and/or safety of STING agonists. Here we describe a modular platform for systemic administration of STING agonists based on nanobodies engineered for hitchhiking of agonist cargo on serum albumin. Using site-selective bioconjugation chemistries to produce molecularly defined products, we found that covalent conjugation of a STING agonist to anti-albumin nanobodies improved pharmacokinetics and increased cargo accumulation in tumor tissue, stimulating innate immune programs that increased the infiltration of activated natural killer cells and T cells, which potently inhibited tumor growth in multiple mouse tumor models.

We report a new facile method for the synthesis of prolate cobalt ferrite nanoparticles without additional stabilizers, which involves a co-precipitation reaction of Fe and Co ions in a static magnetic field. The magnetic field is demonstrated to be a key factor for the 1D growth of cobalt ferrite nanocrystals in the synthesis. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy are applied to characterize the morphology and structure of the obtained nanoparticles.

Immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) has revolutionized cancer treatment and led to complete and durable responses, but only for a minority of patients. Resistance to ICB can largely be attributed to insufficient number and/or function of antitumor CD8 T cells in the tumor microenvironment. Neoantigen targeted cancer vaccines can activate and expand the antitumor T cell repertoire, but historically, clinical responses have been poor because immunity against peptide antigens is typically weak, resulting in insufficient activation of CD8 cytotoxic T cells.

We discuss the implementation challenges of gas sensing systems based on low-frequency noise measurements on chemoresistive sensors. Resistance fluctuations in various gas sensing materials, in a frequency range typically up to a few kHz, can enhance gas sensing by considering its intensity and the slope of power spectral density. The issues of low-frequency noise measurements in resistive gas sensors, specifically in two-dimensional materials exhibiting gas-sensing properties, are considered.

We report on the effect of a hydrocarbon (n-dodecane) on the rheological properties and shapes of the hybrid wormlike micelles (WLMs) of a surfactant potassium oleate with an embedded polymer poly(4-vinylpyridine). With and without hydrocarbon solutions, the hybrid micelles exhibit the same values of viscosity at shear rates typical for hydraulic fracturing (HF) tests, as solutions of polymer-free WLMs. Therefore, similar to WLMs of surfactants, they could be applied as thickeners in HF fluids without breakers.
