Association between Beta2-Adrenergic Receptor Agonists and the Risk of Vascular Complications in Diabetic Patients: A Population-Based Cohort Study.

Beta2-adrenergic receptor (β2AR) agonists can have protective effects targeting macrophage activation, but research on human subjects has not been done. This study was designed to assess the relationship between the use of β2AR agonists and diabetic vascular complications. Using data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service, adults first diagnosed with diabetes in 2004 (n = 249,222) were followed up until 31 December 2015.

Risk of Revision Following Total Knee Arthroplasty or High Tibial Osteotomy: A Nationwide Propensity-Score-Matched Study.

Background: High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is often performed to postpone or avoid the need for subsequent total knee arthroplasty (TKA). We designed the present study to investigate the incidence rate and risk factors for subsequent revision in patients treated with HTO compared with those managed with TKA.

Methods: In this retrospective nationwide cohort study, we reviewed the South Korean National Health Insurance claims database from January 1, 2009, to August 31, 2017.

Arthroplasty in Femoral Head Osteonecrosis.

Osteonecrosis of the femoral head is a destructive joint disease requiring early hip arthroplasty. The polyethylene-metal design using a 22-mm femoral head component, introduced by Charnley in 1950, has been widely used for over half a century. Since then, different materials with the capacity to minimize friction between bearing surfaces and various cement or cementless insert fixations have been developed.
