Nymphs of all 29 described species share a conspicuous synapomorphy: a round mesonotal shield, the carapace. They occur in the Palaearctic (nine species), the Oriental (12 species) and the Afrotropic as well as Australian regions (six and two species, respectively). Relatively little is known about their ecology, but past and extant distribution patterns indicate an association with undisturbed conditions.

The objective of the present study was to elucidate the distribution of 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl-(1-hydroxycyclopentyl)(phenyl)acetate in the organism of the warm-blooded animals after its intra-gastric administration. The methods applied in the study included thin layer chromatography in silicagel, aci-nitroprosalt staining reaction, UV-spectrophotometry,, and GC-mass spectrometry. The identification and the quantitation of 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl-(1-hydroxycyclopentyl)(phenyl)acetate in the organs and blood of the warm-blooded animals were carried out within 20, 150, and 360 min after a single intra-gastric administration of 1300 ml of this poisonous substance.

The authors describe the methods of pharmaceutical and criminalistics analysis that are finding the increasingly wider application for the drug expertise (identification) and elucidation of the circumstances conducive to the commission of an offence. The special emphasis is laid on the buprenorphine studies with the use of the colour chemical reactions, thin-layer chromatography, gas chromatographic analysis, high-performance liquid chromatography, IR spectrometry, and other modern techniques. The methods based on the recent achievements in pharmaceutical and criminalistics sciences can be employed in the activities intended to control the illegal drug circulation.

The participation of various isoenzymes of alpha-amylase in the formation of falling number values of the commodity grain of wheat grown in the Republic of Kazakhstan was investigated. It was found that active isoenzymes alpha-AMY1 and alpha-AMY2 of the embryonic shield were present in the grain with an index over 200. A significant decrease in the falling number depended mainly on the synthesis of alpha-AMY1 and alpha-AMY2 isoenzymes in the aleurone layer.

Combined halothane anesthesia (55 children) produced an insignificant increase in glucose and insulin blood levels, which might be accounted for by a depressing halothane effect on the brain cortex. Epidural analgesia (47 children) leads to a decrease in nociceptive impulsation, which results in a sharp increase in somatotropic hormone (STH) level with stable insulin blood concentration. Increased glucose blood level observed in the postoperative period after epidural analgesia may be accounted for by diabetogenic effect of STH.
