Introduction: Chronic inflammation is a major risk factor for coronary artery disease (CAD). Currently, the inflammatory cardiovascular risk is assessed via C-reactive protein (CRP) levels measured using a high-sensitivity assay (hsCRP). Monomeric CRP (mCRP) is a locally produced form of CRP that has emerged as a potential biomarker of inflammation.

The primary objective of this multicenter study was to derive and validate a body size-independent scaling metric for VOpeak. This metric was termed exercise body mass (EBM).

Machine learning (ML) application in metabolomic analyses is enabling the extraction of meaningful information from complex data. Bringing together domain-specific knowledge from metabolomics with explainable ML methods can refine the predictive performance and interpretability of models used in atherosclerosis research.

Microplastics raise growing concerns regarding their ubiquity and possible negative impact on human health; therefore, the need for comparable, standardized methods is urgent. Modern instrumental analytical techniques, such as IR and Raman spectroscopy, pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and electron microscopy, are fundamental for the analysis of microplastics in environmental and biological objects. The quality of the samples prepared is a determining factor in the validity of the results obtained.

Several studies have been conducted confirming the hereditary nature of predisposition to this disease. The aim of our study is to identify genetic associations characterizing the genomic variability of susceptibility to LDA in Holstein cattle of the Leningrad region of the Russian Federation.

At stage I, the rats received standard (StD) or high-calorie diet (HCD) for 8 weeks. At stage II, the animals were divided into the following subgroups: no correction (StD and HCD), switching from HCD to StD (HCD/StD) and/or connection of physical activity in the form of treadmill running (StD+running, HCD+running, and HCD/StD+running) for the next 8 weeks.

These agents could pose threats to the existence of free-living invertebrates as essential components of the ecosystem. The biological effects of the mentioned classes of substances, their metabolites, and combined effects in the mixture have not been studied enough.

The analysis of the temperature dependence of resistivity points out the crossover from the hopping mechanism due to thermal delocalization in the impurity band to the variable range hopping mechanism. The increase in the iodine content in the films leads to an increase in the impurity ionization energy.

Therefore, we determined associations of clinical and biochemical biomarkers with serial changes in echocardiographic indexes of LA function in the general population.
Methods: We measured LA maximal and minimal volume indexes (LAVImax and LAVImin) by echocardiography and LA reservoir strain (LARS) by two-dimensional speckle-tracking in 627 participants (mean age 50.
Exercise capacity (EC) is an important predictor of survival in the general population and in subjects with cardiopulmonary disease. Despite its relevance, considering the percent-predicted workload (%pWL) given by current equations may overestimate EC in older adults. Therefore, to improve the reporting of EC in clinical practice, our main objective was to develop workload reference equations (pWL) that better reflect the relation between workload and age.

While peak left ventricular (LV) systolic strain has emerged as a strong prognostic factor, few studies have analyzed the whole temporal profiles of the deformation curves during the complete cardiac cycle. Therefore, in this longitudinal study, we applied an unsupervised machine learning approach based on time-series-derived features from the LV strain curve to identify distinct strain phenogroups that might be related to the risk of adverse cardiovascular events in the general population.
