[Systemic enzyme therapy for treatment of women with chronic recurrent bacterial cystitis].

Introduction: In most cases, treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases, including lower urinary tract infections, includes antibacterial drugs. However, their efficiency decreases every year. The absence of new groups of antibiotics makes it necessary to develop alternative treatment schemes and methods for improving efficiency of existing drugs.

Dual Character of Reactive Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Halogen Species: Endogenous Sources, Interconversions and Neutralization.

Oxidative stress resulting from accumulation of reactive oxygen, nitrogen, and halogen species (ROS, RNS, and RHS, respectively) causes the damage of cells and biomolecules. However, over the long evolutionary time, living organisms have developed the mechanisms for adaptation to oxidative stress conditions including the activity of the antioxidant system (AOS), which maintains low intracellular levels of RONS (ROS and RNS) and RHS. Moreover, living organisms have adapted to use low concentrations of these electrophiles for the regulation of cell functions through the reversible post-translational chemical modifications of redox-sensitive amino acid residues in intracellular effectors of signal transduction pathways (protein kinases and protein phosphatases), transcription factors, etc.

On the Shaping of a Short Signal at the Output of the Receiving Piezoelectric Transducer in the Radiation-Reception System.

This paper theoretically and experimentally considers the pulsed mode of operation of the radiation-receiving system. The system contains two identical piezoceramic plates separated by a layer of immersion liquid (glycerin). The emitter was excited by the complex electrical signal of the special shape, which consisted of two half-cycles of the sine wave (exciting and compensating) on the natural frequency of the piezoplates.

[CHRONOBIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE USE OF PROLIT SUPER SEPTO IN PATIENTS WITH INFECTIOUS AND INFLAMMATORY DISEASES OF THE URINARY SYSTEM].

This paper presents results of a study involving 120 patients with infectious and inflammatory diseases of the urinary system, divided into four groups. Groups 1 and 3 included patients with acute serous non-obstructive pyelonephritis, groups 2 and 4--patients with exacerbation of chronic recurrent bacterial cystitis. Patients in groups 3 and 4 received a 10 day course of antibiotic therapy combined with Prolit super septo while patients in groups 1 and 2--only the standard antibiotic therapy.

[Chronobiological aspects of the use of complex "NeiroDoz" in patients with erectile dysfunction].

The article presents the results of the study including 60 patients with erectile dysfunction, divided into four age groups: 20-30, 31-30, 41-50, and 51-60. All patients have received biocomplex "NeiroDoz" for two months 2 capsules 2 times a day. Clinical effectiveness was evaluated according to the ICF and ICEF questionnaires and according to the patient's subjective evaluation of the clinical efficacy; the psycho-emotional status of patients and changes in the chronograms were also analyzed.

[Prognosis of dynamics and risk of exceeding permissible levels of 137Cs and 90Sr contents in fish in the Kiev Reservoir at the late phase of the Chernobyl accident].

On the basis of the radionuclide specific activity measurements made on 832 samples of fish in 2009-2011 and taking into account literature data, the parameters of the stochastic model have been derived to describe the 137Cs and 90Sr contents in typical commercial fish species in the Kiev Reservoir at the late phase of the Chernobyl accident, including: statistical variability, seasonal changes and monotonous long-term trends. At any fixed moment of the year the standard deviations of logarithms of the 137Cs and 90Sr specific activities in carnivorous and benthophage fish species do not reliably differ, making up at average 0.4.

[Correction of psychoemotional status in patients with chronic bacterial prostatitis].

Aim: To comparatively analyze the efficiency of combination treatment in patients with chronic prostatitis.

Subjects And Methods: Psychometric and psychological methods, such as the Hamilton depression rating scale and the Hamilton anxiety rating scale, determination of the types of an attitude toward illness, and the personality rating questionnaire, were used to examine 80 men with chronic bacterial prostatitis (CBP) who were allocated to 2 groups. A study group received levofloxacin in combination with adaptol for 10 days; a control group had antibacterial therapy only.

[Dependences of 137Cs and 90Sr concentration ratios in fish on the potassium and calcium concentrations in the freshwater reservoirs].

Activities of 137Cs and 90Sr, concentrations of the potassium and calcium ions in water and accumulation of the radionuclides in the organisms of various freshwater fish have been measured in the stagnant and semistagnant water reservoirs of Ukraine contaminated as a result of the Chernobyl accident. On the basis of the numerous experimental data for different regions the statistical parameters were derived describing the dependencies of the 137Cs and 90Sr concentration ratios in the muscle tissue of various fish species on the potassium and calcium concentrations in water, respectively.

Pulse mode of operation of a spherical piezoceramic transducer filled with liquid and having a correcting electric circuit.

By means of a computational method, the possibility of radiating a short acoustic pulse by a transducer in the form of a piezoceramic sphere internally filled with liquid is investigated. An electric inductive-resistive circuit is connected to the electric input of the transducer. Solution is obtained based on scheme-analogs theory for piezoceramic transducers, and spectral Fourier transform theory.

Effect of electrical circuits on duration of an acoustic pulse radiated by a piezoplate.

By means of numerical computation, pulse mode of a piezoelectric radiator in the form of a plate, loaded with a liquid and connected to R-L circuits in various combinations, is investigated. The computations were carried out having taken into account the internal resistance of the electric generator. Numerical results, based on the theory, are provided for examples of parallel and series circuits connected to a piezoelectric plate.

Superconductivity in MgB2: clean or dirty?

A large number of experimental facts and theoretical arguments favor a two-gap model for superconductivity in MgB2. However, this model predicts strong suppression of the critical temperature by interband impurity scattering and, presumably, a strong correlation between the critical temperature and the residual resistivity. No such correlation has been observed.

[Vitamin D3 and 20-hydroxyecdysone -- inhibitors of free radical lipid oxidation during D-hypervitaminosis].

Under D-hypovitaminosis (control) conditions the statistically reliable increase of blood serum lipids free radical oxidation was revealed in comparison with the intact animals. Administration of vitamin D3 to the animals suffering from D-hypovitaminosis leads for statistically reliable decrease of blood serum lipids free radical oxidation, while 20-hydroxyecdysone in quantity of 0.02 mg per 1 kg of the animal body weight displays the antioxidative properties.

[Diagnosis and surgical treatment of secondary gastroesophageal reflux disease].

Examination and treatment was performed in 69 patients with secondary gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), 61 (88.4%) of whom were primarily operated on for achalasia of cardia and GERD. The choice of the operation method was based on complex examination of the patients.

[Foreign bodies of biliary ducts as a cause of the obturative jaundice origin after cholecystectomy and other interventions].

There were summarized the results of treatment of 17 patients with foreign bodies of biliary ducts which caused the obturation jaundice after cholecystectomy and other interventions. In 5 patients was applied the concealed rubber drain, in 12--polychlorvinyl one. All the patients were operated on.

Infrared and optical spectroscopy of alpha- and gamma-phase cerium.

We determined the optical properties of alpha- and gamma-phase Ce in the photon energy range from 60 meV to 2.5 eV using ellipsometry and grazing incidence reflectometry. We observe significant changes of the optical conductivity, the dynamical scattering rate, and the effective mass between alpha- and gamma-cerium.

[Aspects of bile chemical contents in patients after cholecystectomy].

Chemical contents of bile was studied in 38 patients with cholelithic disease after conduction of cholecystectomy. It was established that in up to 4 weeks after the operation bile has lithogenic properties. It is expedient to do the bile reinfusion through the drain into duodenum to achieve its chemical contents normalization.

[The application of hemosorption in the treatment of patients with obturative jaundice after cholecystectomy].

In 47 patients there was applied the hemosorption (HS) in complex of treatment of obstructive jaundice (OJ) after cholecystectomy. The jaundice duration was 4-6 weeks at average. Choledocholithiasis, the papilla magna duodeni stenosis, choledochal cicatricial stricture were the most frequent causes of OJ.

[Surgical treatment of patients with damage and cicatricial stricture of biliary ducts].

In 109 patients 106 reconstructive and 3 restorational operations were performed for iatrogenic damage and cicatricial structure of biliary ducts. Formation of biliobiliary anastomosis is effective in the treatment of the stricture restricted in length. [Regional government policy in the area of preventing the spread of HIV infection and drug abuse among youth].

In 1993 the Youth Social Service, aimed at the creation of favorable conditions for the development of young people, the realization of their rights, the preservation of their individuality, their self determination and self expression, the support of their innovative activities, was created in Kiev. The work on the prevention of the spread if HIV infection and injection drug use should be considered only in the aspect of the involvement of young people in the work on the prevention of negative phenomena. The prerequisite for these programs was the tendency to an increase in the number of manifestations of negative phenomena among young people in Kiev.

[Characteristics of antioxidant properties of 20-hydroxyecdysone in low density lipoproteins by kinetic parameters of chemiluminescence].

20-Hydroxyecdysone is capable to terminate the lipid free-radical oxidation in low density lipoprotein in vitro as displayed by the kinetic chemiluminescence parameters. In concentrations interval from 2 x 10(-6) mol/l up to 8 x 10(-6) mol/l it statistically reliably reduces maximum of the first flash intensity of the low density lipoprotein Fe(2+)-initiated chemiluminescence. It testifies about Fe(2+)-initiated lipid peroxide process decomposition in low density lipoprotein slowing down by 20-hydroxyecdysone.

[Characteristics of H2O2-initiated oxidation of blood serum lipids by kinetic parameters of chemiluminescence].

H2O2-initiated free radical oxidation of blood serum lipids was investigated by the chemiluminescence method. The first flash of the chemiluminescence was stimulated by H2O2 decomposition on the reaction, similar to Fenton reaction. The time of the chemiluminescence flash second maximum was correlated with the contents of antioxidants.

[Placenta--a source of biologically active substances].

In the review there are some data displaying the scientific and patent literature presenting placenta as a rich source of some biologically active substances (BAS): proteins, lipids, enzymes, glycolipids and glycolipoproteins, hormones. This information is capable to be used while developing the techniques of BAS producing from placenta in order of creating the organospecific complex preparations with medically-preventive properties.
