[Dystrophic calcification of the parotid salivary glands in Sjogren's disease].

This article discusses a rare clinical case of differential diagnosis between salivary stone disease and calcinosis, which developed against the background of autoimmune pathology. Diagnosis of these pathologies causes difficulties for practitioners, and treatment methods have fundamental differences. In this regard, the description of this case is relevant and significant.

[Ductoplasty of the post-traumatic stricture of a parotid duct].

A report on the primary application of the modern technique of plastic removal of stricture of the Stenonic duct. A clinical case of surgical intervention in the localization of stricture and salivary stone is considered. The analysis of the patient's medical history, ultrasound diagnostics, multispiral computed tomography of the maxillofacial region was carried out.

Influence of the cumulative effect of zoledronic acid on periodontal microcirculation in rats.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of repeated administration of zoledronic acid (ZA) on the development and severity of osteonecrosis of the jaws.

Methods: In the experiment, 36 rats were used, which were divided into 4 groups: group 1 was injected with saline for 6 weeks, group 2 was injected with ZA once, group 3 was injected zoledronic acid for 3 weeks once a week, group 4 was injected with ZA for 6 weeks once a week. While taking medications, the tooth was removed.

Disorders of microcirculation in the mechanism of bisphosphonate osteonecrosis: preliminary study in rats.

We investigated the possibilities of angioprotection and the reduction of osteonecrosis in rats that had been given bisphosphonates. In our experiment, 27 rats were divided into three groups: Group 1 was injected with saline; Group 2 was given zoledronic acid for six weeks; and Group 3 was given zoledronic acid for six weeks, with added doses of sulodexide after three weeks. After that we constructed a model of how the teeth should be extracted.

Durvalumab with or without tremelimumab in patients with recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma: EAGLE, a randomized, open-label phase III study.

Background: Targeting the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) axis has demonstrated clinical benefit in recurrent/metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (R/M HNSCC). Combining immunotherapies targeting PD-L1 and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4) has shown evidence of additive activity in several tumor types. This phase III study evaluated the efficacy of durvalumab (an anti-PD-L1 monoclonal antibody) or durvalumab plus tremelimumab (an anti-CTLA-4 monoclonal antibody) versus standard of care (SoC) in R/M HNSCC patients.

The article presents two clinical cases of patients with Heerfordt-Waldenström disease demonstrating diagnostic difficulties and the need for holistic treatment approach.

[Comparative biomechanical study of surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion with tooth-borne and bone-borne expanders].

The study objective was to compare the biomechanics of surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion (SARPE) with tooth-borne and bone-borne expanders. Materials include a sample of 54 cone-beam CT of 27 patients who underwent SARPE (bone-borne, n=21; tooth-borne, n=6) before treatment and at expander removal. Expansion efficacy was estimated by interapecal and intercoronal distances between maxillary canines, premolars and first molars as well as Coronal-Apical Index (CAI = coronal expansion (mm)/apical expansion (mm)).

Role of C-reactive protein concentration of blood plasma in assessment of the severity and the effectiveness of treatment in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity mucosa.

The purpose of this study was to determine the prognostic significance of dynamics of C-reactive protein concentration in blood plasma as a marker for the progression of squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity mucosa. From January 2014 to August 2014 there were under the observation 35 patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity mucosa. All patients were divided into 2 groups: group 1 - primary patients who had been diagnosed with malignant lesions of the oral cavity mucosa for the first time (17 people); group 2 - patients with recurrent disease (18 people).

[Experimental substantiation of hormone replacing therapy by estrogens in treatment and prevention of inflammatory infectious diseases of maxillo-facial region].

Estrogen play the important role in normal current of inflammatory process. At age oppression of synthesis or at surgical menopause in an organism it is formed estrogen-deficiency syndrome shown in particular, in salivary glands change, loss of a jaw bones, disseminated current of inflammatory processes. For study of hormone replacing estrogen's therapy role in experiment, we determine the influence of transdermal estrogen-consisting systems on structure and function of large salivary glands, density of a bone jaws and current of infectious-inflammatory process in laboratory animals.
