Introduction: Colorectal cancer (CRC) staging is essential for effective treatment planning and prognosis. While platelet indices have shown promise in indicating CRC aggressiveness, a platelet index-based predictor for CRC staging has not been established in Indonesia. This study aimed to explore the relationship between platelet indices and CRC stage and to develop a predictive model and application.

Carotid-cavernous fistula (CCF) is a rare condition involving an abnormal communication between the carotid artery and the cavernous sinus. We present a unique case of posttraumatic unilateral CCF initially misdiagnosed as a corneal melt with iris prolapse and orbital cellulitis. The patient, a 25-year-old male, experienced swelling, bleeding, and sudden vision loss in the affected eye following a fall.

Article Synopsis
  • The study analyzed risk factors for biochemical recurrence (BCR) after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) using data from patients treated between 2018 and 2020, excluding those with certain complications or missing data.
  • Results indicated that the International Society of Urological Pathologists (ISUP) grade is a strong predictor for BCR, particularly for higher grades, while pT3b stage also significantly predicted BCR in patients with advanced tumors.
  • The findings conclude that ISUP grade and tumor stage are critical risk factors for BCR after RARP, with additional emphasis on the significance of positive surgical margins in pT2 cases and the pT3b substage in pT3 cases.

Aim: This systematic review was conducted with the purpose of analyzing the effects of root-end sealers in endodontic re-treatment cases and comparing calcium-based sealers with sealers, which were resin-based.

Methodology: We conducted this review based on the principles of Cochrane systematic type of studies and also based on guidelines of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). An exhaustive search was conducted across PubMed, Medline, and Embase databases for the studies, which were based on root end sealers in cases of endodontic re-treatments.

Objective: To report the incidence of malignancy in gynaecological organs removed during radical cystectomy (RC).

Patients And Methods: A retrospective multicentre study of 1600 RCs at three high-volume institutions between January 2009 and March 2022 was performed. Pathological findings in gynaecological organs in female RC specimens were reviewed.

Introduction: In pancreatic cancer, the carcinogenesis can not be separated from genetics mutations. The portraits of genes alterations majorily including oncogenes (KRAS, HER2, PD-L1) and tumor supressor genes (P53, CDKN2A, SMAD4). Besides being notorious a screening marker, the genetic mutations were related to the prognosis of pancreatic cancer.

Self-removal of urinary catheter as an option after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) has never been explored in literature. We report the feasibility and outcome of the first study of this novel concept in our hospital. We conducted a prospective audit of self-TWOC (trial without catheter) in men who underwent consecutive RARP in our centre between April 2022 and September 2022.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the second most frequent cancer-related death among women worldwide. Factors influencing BC patients' survival include histopathological grade, histopathological type, stage, hormonal receptors, and number of mitotic images.

Objective: To compare the tumor size, histopathological grade, and molecular type of BC patients.

Objective: Genetic variants in EFTUD2 were proven to influence variable phenotypic expressivity in mandibulofacial dysostosis Guion-Almeida type (MFDGA) or mandibulofacial dysostosis with microcephaly (MFDM). Yet, the association between the severity of clinical findings with variants within the EFTUD2 gene has not been established. Thus, we aim to elucidate a possible genotype-phenotype correlation in MFDM.

Introduction: The most prevalent malignancy of the biliary system and the fifth most common cancer of the gastrointestinal tract is gallbladder cancer. This cancer is extremely aggressive with a 19 % 5-year survival rate. Herein, we report a case of gallbladder cancer with an ambiguous symptom of upper abdominal pain.

Introduction: Premenopausal patients with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer require ablation therapy via a pharmacological or surgical approach. Data comparing outcomes between treatment with gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogs and treatment with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (BSO) in Indonesia remains limited. Therefore, this study aimed to compare incidence of local recurrence and metastasis, and overall survival (OS) in patients with luminal type breast cancer treated using the two approaches.

Background And Aim: Water pollution caused by industrial waste and human activities has disrupted the reproductive health of aquatic organisms. This study aimed to analyze the effects of water pollution caused by polystyrene particles (PP) on the steroid (estradiol and testosterone) levels and histopathology of male tilapia gonads. In addition, we also analyzed the potential of supplementary feeding to remove and neutralize oxidants.

Most cases of Hirschsprung disease (HD) cases are known in newborns or infants. Nevertheless, some cases with mild symptoms are not identified until acute presentations, such as bowel obstruction present in adolescence or adulthood. We reported a 25-year-old male with a history of chronic constipation from childhood presenting with bowel obstruction due to HD.

Background: The 5-year overall survival (OS) rate for colorectal cancer (CRC) has been reported as 39%, and the 5-year recurrence-free survival (RFS) rate has been reported as 14%. Various prognostic factors have been associated with differences in survival rates among CRC patients. This study investigated the difference between several prognostic factors and the OS and RFS rates of CRC patients at the Dr.

Introduction: An inguinal hernia is a protrusion of abdominal-cavity contents through the inguinal canal. Protection against an inguinal hernia depends on the integrity of fascial tissue, which is maintained by collagen. Collagen is a structural protein consisting of amino acids, the most common of which is glycine.

Teriparatide is a novel recombinant peptide fragment of the first 1-34 amino acids of human parathyroid recommended for treatment of osteoporosis. Therapeutic proteins and peptides are routinely estimated using ligand binding assay formats however LC-MS/MS technique which is routinely used in bioanalysis of small molecules has now gained importance in large molecule bioanalysis for the advantages it can offer over LBAs in terms of improved accuracy, selectivity and anti-body free method development. This paper presents a sensitive bioanalytical method for determination of teriparatide in human serum using ultra performance liquid chromatography aligned with tandem mass spectrometric detection.

Introduction: A hernia is a protrusion of an organ or tissue through an abnormal anatomical channel or opening. Epidemiological data indicated an increased prevalence of inguinal hernias in patients with connective tissue diseases. The biomechanical strength of connective tissue is highly dependent on the constituent of the matrix, including collagen.
