Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a subtype known for its aggressive nature, high rates of recurrence, and treatment resistance, largely attributed to the presence of breast cancer stem cells (BCSCs). Traditional therapies often struggle to eliminate BCSCs, which contributes to tumor recurrence. One promising strategy for addressing this challenge is targeting the Notch signaling pathway, which plays a critical role in the self-renewal and maintenance of BCSCs.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines how iron deficiency anemia (IDA) affects glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and glycated albumin (GA) levels, highlighting that IDA alters these biomarkers used for monitoring blood sugar control.
  • It compares 30 nondiabetic patients with IDA to 30 healthy controls, finding significant differences in various blood parameters, including lower levels of iron and albumin and higher levels of glycemic indicators.
  • The research suggests that low albumin levels in IDA may cause misleadingly high GA readings, indicating that GA should be interpreted cautiously in diabetic patients with IDA to avoid inappropriate treatment decisions and hypoglycemia risk.

Over recent years, advancements in nanomedicine have allowed new approaches to diagnose and treat tumors. Nano drug delivery systems exploit the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect and enter the tumor tissue's interstitial space. However, tumor barriers play a crucial role, and cause inefficient EPR or the homing effect.

OncomiRs are microRNAs that are associated with early onset of specific cancers. To identify microRNAs involved in pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) subtypes T-ALL and B-ALL, peripheral blood and bone marrow samples were independently subjected to microarray analysis using two different high-fidelity array platforms. The unique and common gene signatures from both arrays were validated by TaqMan individual assays in 100 pediatric ALL samples.

Investigations were conducted to elucidate the key factor behind Cd-toxicity-induced proline accumulation in Indian mustard (Brassica juncea) by raising seedlings, independently in distilled water (DW) and mineral growth medium (MGM) in the presence of 0-500 μM CdCl. Invariably, Cd-induced toxicity, measured in terms of growth, was significantly more prominent in seedlings raised in DW than those raised in MGM. Cd brought about a significant reduction in growth and photosystem II activity with a concomitant increase in proline levels, in a concentration-dependent manner.
