The rare case of neurilemmoma of the larynx was presented. The difficulties in histopathologic diagnosis of such tumors were emphasized. The tumor was removed by surgery from external approach.

Pneumocephalus or intracranial air its commonly detected following serious head injury and posterior fossa surgery. In laryngology the frequent reason of its appearance is also herniation of air through a break in the wall of skull due to advanced benign and malignant tumors. The pathophysiology involves the presence of craniodural fistula allowing ingress of air.

In the years 1989-1992 we diagnosed 148 cases of recurrent nerve paresis. There were 78 cases of iatrogenic paresis, mainly caused by thyroid surgery and cardiosurgery. In 48 cases we found the diseases which caused paresis (mainly cancers and lesions of central nervous system).

The authors presented 2 cases of massive bleeding from brachiocephalic artery as a late complication after tracheotomy. In both deadly cases the artery wall was secondary damaged by the tracheal tube. The pathomechanism of this complication origin and significance of its acquaintance was discussed.

In 56 pigs defects of the anterior tracheal wall were closed by implants of various materials: a net of polyester with hydrogel or autogenised, fascia, mucosa, cartilage, skin. Best results were achieved with cartilage and fascia. The nets of polyester and skin were extruded.
