Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Effect on IANB Injection Pain and Mandibular Pulpal Anesthesia in Asymptomatic Subjects.

The inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) does not always result in successful pulpal anesthesia. Nitrous oxide may increase the success of the IANB. The purpose of this investigation was to study the effect of nitrous oxide/oxygen (N2O/O2) on IANB injection pain and mandibular pulpal anesthesia in asymptomatic subjects.

[Comparative histological analysis of different materials used for urethroplasty in children with proximal forms of hypospadias: preputial skin vs buccal mucosa].

Aim: Buccal mucosa and preputial skin grafts are used for staged urethroplasty in proximal forms of hypospadias in children. Aim of our study was to carry out a comparative histological analysis of preputial skin and buccal mucosa.

Method: s and materials: Histological analysis of urethral tissue samples from 10 patients with proximal forms of hypospadias was conducted.

Bracka's Method of Proximal Hypospadias Repair: Preputial Skin or Buccal Mucosa?

Objective: To analyze treatment results of staged surgical repair of proximal forms of hypospadias according to Bracka's technique using preputial vs buccal grafts.

Material And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 220 patients with proximal forms of hypospadias treated with Bracka's urethroplasty technique. They were divided into 2 groups: Group I-108 patients treated with preputial skin grafts in 2001-2013; Group II-112 patients who underwent urethroplasty with buccal mucosa grafts in 2013-2016.

[Osteochondroma in children and adolescents].

Osteochondroma is called a benign cartilage-forming tumor arising from an aberrant subperiosteal cartilage. Multiple osteochondromas syndrome (MOS) is an autosomal dominant disease, the basis for which is mutations in the EXT (EXT1 or EXT2) genes. Osteochondroma is one of the most common benign bone tumors.

Night diapers use and sleep in children with enuresis.

Objective: We aimed to assess the association between night diapers use and sleep quality of school-aged children with enuresis.

Methods: The sleep patterns of 72 school-aged children (ages 6-9 y) with enuresis referred to a clinic specializing in bladder disorders and 63 healthy control children were assessed. Sleep measures were derived from four to five monitoring nights of actigraphy and daily logs.

Sleep and sleepiness in children with nocturnal enuresis.

Study Objectives: To assess if sleep patterns and sleepiness are compromised in children with nocturnal enuresis (NE), in comparison with normal control subjects, and to evaluate the role of enuresis-related events during sleep.

Design: Assessment of natural sleep patterns at home in a sample of children referred to enuresis clinics and controls.

Primary ventricular fibrillation and resumption of work, sexual activity, and driving after first acute myocardial infarction.

The resumption of work, sexual activity, and driving were studied in 32 patients who had suffered primary ventricular fibrillation after their first myocardial infarction. They were compared with 95 patients whose myocardial infarction was not so complicated. Though initially slowing rehabilitation, primary ventricular fibrillation did not affect ultimately either the return to work or the resumption of normal sexual activity and driving.

The influence of psychological factors and an early hospital follow-up on return to work after first myocardial infarction.

The factors influencing the return to work following first myocardial infarction were studied in 112 male patients, all of whom had previously been fully employed. Delay in return to work within 4 months of discharge from hospital was seen in patients who were not given an early hospital follow-up appointment and in those who attibuted their illness to aspects of their work. Encouragement by the General Practitioner to resume employment was found to be essential if an unnecessary delay was to be avoided.
