Introduction: Premature ovarian failure (POF) is the cessation of ovarian function before the age of 40. The loss of ovarian function, whether premature or not, has an overwhelming impact on female skeletal health, leading to an increased risk of developing osteoporosis because of the lengthened time of exposure to reduced estrogen. The objective of this study was to compare the implications of premature ovarian failure on bone turnover markers and bone mineral density in patients under the age of 40.
