The research aimed to assess the accuracy of digital models from cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) compared to OrthoCAD models for orthodontic purposes, using surface area analysis.
Two sets of maxillary and mandibular models from 30 subjects were analyzed by superimposing matched pairs using software, measuring the differences in linear dimensions and surface correlation.
Findings showed that both model types had over 90% surface correlation, with CBCT models deemed sufficiently accurate for orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning.
