Vaccination has been shown to stimulate remarkably high antibody levels in donors who have recovered from COVID-19. Our objective was to measure patient antibody levels before and after transfusion with COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma (CCP) and compare the antibody levels following transfusion of CCP from vaccinated and nonvaccinated donors. Plasma samples before and after transfusion were obtained from 25 recipients of CCP and COVID-19 antibody levels measured.

Materials And Methods: Seven Dutch-belted rabbits received dextrose, while seven others received 2 mg/kg verteporfin infusion over a period of 15 minutes in a dim-lit room. Irradiation to a 1.
Purpose: We aimed to determine the extent of protection provided by Visudyne eyeglass against vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) synthesis following photodynamic therapy (PDT).
Methods: Three groups with 14 rabbits in each were established. These consisted of a control (dextrose infusion) group, an infusion (verteporfin infusion) group and an irradiation (verteporfin infusion + irradiation) group.
Phthiriasis palpebrarum (PP) is a rare eyelid infestation caused by phthirus pubis. We report a case of PP mimicking lid eczema and blepharitis. A 68-year-old woman had moderate itching in both eyes.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAberrant proteins represent an extreme hazard to cells. Therefore, molecular chaperones and proteases have to carry out protein quality control in each cellular compartment. In contrast to the ATP-dependent cytosolic proteases and chaperones, the molecular mechanisms of extracytosolic factors are largely unknown.

Crusted hemorrhage was noticed in the tear meniscus of the left eye and just inferior to the left caruncle. With gradient-echo magnetic resonance imaging, the hemorrhagic tissue in the nasolacrimal canal was demonstrated and the diagnosis of nasolacrimal endometriosis was made.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of photodynamic therapy (PDT) on retrobulbar blood flow parameters.
Methods: Twenty-four patients with choroidal neovascular membrane of at least four MPS disc area in one eye due to age-related macular degeneration scheduled for PDT were recruited. Peak systolic and end diastolic velocity of ophthalmic, central retinal and posterior ciliary artery of both eyes were measured with colour Doppler imaging and resistivity index were computed before, at the first and fourth weeks following PDT.
Purpose: Describing the ophthalmic findings of an exudative vasculopathy called as Coats-like retinitis pigmentosa on three patients. The etiology of the Coats-like retinitis pigmentosa is obscure. The principal theories have been discussed in this article.

In the present study, we investigated the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) in post-mortem brain tissue of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients, and we observed a significant increase of BDNF concentration in hippocampus and parietal cortex of AD patients, as well as a negative correlation between NT-3 levels and age in hippocampus and putamen of control subjects, and for BDNF in frontal cortex. A defining feature of AD is the post-mortem identification of neuritic plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the brain, however, a more significant neuropathological finding is the degeneration of cholinergic neurones of the basal forebrain, critically involved in memory and cognition. Neurotrophic factors are partly responsible for the maintenance of neuronal function and structural integrity in the adult brain.

However, scientific literature on this subject is quite limited. This article provides an overview of scientific data related to stalking and associated psychiatric syndromes, including erotomania.

In the multiple sclerosis group, 22 of 24 MBP-specific T-cell lines were CD4+. Two distinct patterns were observed with regard to CD45 isoform expression.
